I4NRulez 08/11/23 7:24:00 PM #1:	Essentially saying that being friends with racists gives you a chance to change their minds but why would a minority have to change the racist's mind? The onus should be on the racist to not be a shitbag in the first place and not me as a black person to convince someone not to be racist. Normally i wouldnt make a topic for a reply to a single post but the topic was closed and ive seen the sentiment shared a lot on here. --- The night brims with defiled scum,and is permeated by their rotten stench. But I also recognize that "the onus is on them to change" is nearly equivalent to "fuck it, they're never gonna change." Because nothing happens in a vacuum. SOMETHING has to happen to change their minds, and it certainly isn't gonna happen in their echo chambers. And people close to them are best equipped to do something. So unless we wanna go with the "just wait for the racism/bigotry to die out naturally over time" approach (which... hasn't exactly been successful so far), then someone's gotta talk to them. It's nobody's responsibility, but it's necessary for somebody. And for what its worth, cutting them off is itself a message. and can be compelling in its own right. I was keeping my mouth shut because I was with my boss and really didn't want to make a scene. Finally they started talking about the slight change to our national anthem and I decided it was a perfect topic to ease into trying to help them see how fucking shitty they were. I asked them what was wrong with inclusiveness and instead of answering the question they started belittling me due to being younger than them, how my generation is full of pussies, blah blah blah. Some people have no desire to change and are completely content is being absolute pieces of shit. --- All posters and events depicted in this post are entirely fictitious. I'm biracial and bisexual and that has gotten me into fist fights with former friends who were white cis-het bigots and even worse situations with their friends that they revealed their true nature through.
