I really liked these for a while. All gameplay, all good music.

I thought 3 was the best one, I liked how they went crazy with the charting but also made the note hitboxes really generous to counter it.
Barely did any FCs though. I wasn't about that kind of grind. Also it became pretty apparent that if you said were okay at the games, people couldn't wait to shut you down with "Yeah but did you 100% TTFAF on expert?" almost every time.

I settled for 5-starring the main setlists since they at least gave you unlockable guitars for that.

As a guitarist, meh.
Ironically enough, Rocksmith+ which is basically the same thing with a real guitar is the only one of those thats still around.

They were all good. Im surprised to see RB4 still gets dlc updates. Kind of lame theyre not all backwards compatible or at least the tracks from the games are not part of a dlc pass. Same with the Guitar Hero games. Since the guitars mostly work with modern consoles too it would be an easy port for them.

As a non guitarist, I liked them a lot. 2 was my favorite, I liked Rock Band a bit more eventually when 2 was so good and 4 still releases weekly tracks.

Guitar Hero 3 is one of the best video games ever. You could tell after that the franchise sold out and they were just putting songs in there that record labels paid them to add that werent even fun to play on guitar so it all became one big advertisement.

I have great memories of GH3. I had two other main buddies I played with throughout HS, and we were always trying to outdo each other. one of my buddies tho was hands down better than us two, and this guy only used 3 fingers instead of 4 to play lol. I never beat the game on expert cause the devil went down to Georgia boss battle was insane. my buddy that played with 3 fingers tho? beat that shit easyyy

edit: oh, the GH franchise introduced me to a lot of songs I NEVER would have heard or even enjoyed otherwise

Rockband was pretty fun the few times I played it. Drums were the only instrument I was decent at.

My friend has all the PS2 games and I've played them a handful of times at his place.

It's not the kind of game I'd buy to play by myself at home, but it's a lot of fun when you're hanging out with a couple buddies and having some beers.

They were fun party games in college, but playing it by yourself seems weird to me for some reason.

3 was a lotta fun but the genre was a fad that fizzled away. They pumped out too many games way too fast and burned out because of it. Who knows Id they slowed down, the games might still be around

GH2 (and to a lesser extent, GH1) is one of the best video game experiences I've ever had. Mostly swapped to Rock Band over Neversoft's takes on GH, but still enjoyed the series well enough (except for World Tour which was just super mediocre).

This is just false though, RS has stopped receiving updates last I heard while Rock Band is still putting out DLC every week.

You think?
It's high score chasing with a funny looking controller. What's the issue?

Something was off about World Tour.
The new career mode was just a bunch of 3/4 song playlists instead of a linear progression. No point unlocking characters or guitars now that there's create-a modes here to overshadow them.

Some more difficult songs would have been nice but since it was their first time going full band they probably didn't want one player tanking the other 3 by playing badly. That and they probably didn't want a lot of situations like Satch Boogie where the guitar guy's having fun and everyone else is just following along, bored.

Sometimes I regret never really trying Warriors of Rock.
They had character-specific power ups that affected the gameplay. Dragonforce came back and they had a bunch of more challenging looking songs. I heard it felt more like 3 but that's just me going from what someone told me.
Definitely looked better than the likes of GH5 and Band Hero, but it still came out too late.

Big fan of the series. Have all the games and plastic instruments. Introduced me to lots of great music. Was the reason I started taking drum lessons and became an actual musician.

Still buying new dlc for RB4 and competing in the weekly challenges. Have a library of over 1600 songs and use my real ekit to play the drums.

Good memories of 1 and 2. I preferred Rock Band though. They tried to be somewhat accurate with the guitar buttons as much as it allowed, while GH just threw inputs to make it harder, accurate or not.

I've always been a Rock Band fan. The guitar hero games lost their charm to me once Harmonix stopped developing them.

I play RB4 at least a few times a week, and I have a library of over 2000 songs. Rock Band is by far my favorite game series. I hope Epic Games will continue support for a long while

The reason the old disc songs in RB4 DLC are not part of the pass is because many people already exported the setlists back when it was available. So Harmonix does not included the rewinds in the pass so the hard-core players will still buy it
