If Desantis is off the table for you, then Pence should be absolutely nowhere near your lips as a possible candidate.
Pence is almost assuredly not even happening anyways, but I'm curious what's wrong with him, other than his traitor label?

From me, yes, but that's just my opinion. There are plenty of proud centrists. There's even more embarrassed centrists though.

John Cleese, etc.

Well I did say from the off that Trump was mostly responsible for the withdrawal going badly and otherwise it was literally just noting that Biden was the one who did it in the end. Thats not centrism thats just describing what happened.

Very homophobic, links to conversion therapy. I dunno if he quite tops DeSantis in terms of overt homophobia and anti-LGBTQ+ bigotry but hes up there.

Is centrism really an insult though, lol?
If somebody is using it derogatorily, they're using it to mean essentially this
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/8/2/5/AAcM16AAEwKB.png
usually with an added bonus that they no have beliefs in themselves, they're just acquiescing to the status quo and basing their position off of the average to make themselves seem "enlightened" because of the median fallacy.

You of course can generally have informed and considered opinions that happen to fall in between political extremes in whatever society you're in which can make you a "centrist", but there's a certain conceit common enough to those who are proudly centrist or apolitical that engenders this usage. LS knew exactly what fool meant

I'm fine with differing opinions, after a take that stupid though oof.
It was just little riot. At the capital. Orchestrated to stop the peaceful transfer of power. No biggie.

I mean this is barely scratching the surface of Mike Pence but yeah. He's an extreme far-right Christian dominionist and bigot who literally believes (there's articles about this!) that god put him on earth to be president. Absolutely terrifying man with no scruples whatsoever other than achieving power and using it to install evangelical christianity as the US's religion.

No such things. Any decent humans amongst them are tossed out of the party Liz Cheney style. The Republican platform is literally just fascism.

Considering the last time it happened was the 1950s, I wouldn't count on it.

On-topic, I voted for Georgia for one simple reason: It's a state offense. He can't wash it away by pardoning himself, and that means he can't use that as an excuse for why the election takes precedence.

That's not very long ago. You know people who were alive at the time. It could very well happen again. Impossible while trumpism survives though.

The people who were alive and politically active at that point are in their 90s now. I don't even expect them to outlast Trumpism.

This comment was about 1/6 and many of us listened to multiple Republicans for its investigations.

Honestly, almost all of the testimony in the 1/6 case is from Republicans - hell, from Republicans who were working in Trump's own administration. And as the accounts get closer and closer to 1/6 itself from those who were choosing to stick with him even as more and more began peeling away as Trump kept going further and further in his efforts to maintain power (like how it got too much for even Barr and so while he could testify to events in the immediate aftermath of the election/November, eventually the Justice officials testifying are ones who remained even after Barr was gone, etc.)

Anyway, good question here but a weird question to answer too. Georgia's case will stick around the longest and be the most inescapable in that way. Stealing secrets and stealing elections cannot be stood for by a democracy of any sort. Society has mostly accepted paying off Stormy Daniels in a legally questionable way as canon as opposed to the more rigorous party-line divisions of what happened that come with the other three. Each of those indictments can be an answer here depending on the lens you view the question with here.

Voted 1/6. It's just Donald being tried instead of having to worry about trying additional people alongside him, the indictment covers so much more about before the insurrection happened in addition to the day of the attack and even later that same day, and the precedent its decision will leave is arguably the biggest of them all here. Politically, we've already seen it divide his party to some degree as well, and despite two and a half years it doesn't seem like Donald or Republicans defending 1/6 have a consistent story about what happened. It's no guarantee for punishment or a guilty verdict here, but Donald is in trouble.

This Georgia indictment is very broad and aggressive in going after what appears to be the entire Trump legal team. Feels constitutionally unsound as to a bunch of the "conspirators."

Fulton County is of course a very bad venue for Trump given how blue it is. He'll probably try to get it moved to MTG's district.
