This is apparently an intentional change. It's not just changing your name. Changing your profile or banner will be enough to lock your account. And this is a change here to stay.

And there is also rumors only Blue users will be allowed to change their name and avatar soon.

Who cares? Seriously, the site is so poorly managed I'm not sure why people stay on it.

For some people, especially artists including NSFW ones, its the only way they can pay their bills. It's either that or give up on art entirely.

They really should consider building up and going someplace else as they migrate. If enough people leave it'll be fine. Twitter didn't always exist.

There aren't too many sites that accept NSFW artists that are big enough. They either ban NSFW entirely or are too small to make a profit at the moment.

Some artists are going completely SFW just to get off the site.

It's anywhere from barely-functional to completely-broken when you're not logged in, and I ain't fucking doing that.

Some artists are going completely SFW just to get off the site.

Getting off the site is more important than dealing with this garbage heap. Your profits are going to get worse over time because the site itself is far too unstable to keep relying on.

Bluesky and Mastadon don't ban NSFW but unless you have a dedicated fanbase, you are likely not going to make money if you are that kind of artist due to how small they are at the moment.

Twitter hasn't been replaced by anything yet. Twitter is still the go-to site for sharing thoughts to the world.

There's countless "booru" sites out there, though, and every goddamn thing on all of them has a patreon or subscribestar watermark.
If you're not making money on random naughty fanart or eight-second videos, maybe it's just not meant to be.

MySpace was so good. Users being able to manipulate the html led to the most bizarre and chaotic experiences I've ever had online. It was a trolling paradise the likes of which we will never see again. Truly unique in every way and Facebook was such a huge downgrade in every way even just general non trolling experience. Facebook is just so bland and poorly designed in a not fun way.
