Is it normal to ship your sole prototype to a reviewer and hope for the best in case you don't get it back? Seems like a pretty silly controversy to end up in.

ProtoTypes should always remain in the office, it's dumb to ship them to anybody.

Linus is absolutely am asshole, he claims all employees can afford a house but their opening pay for writers is 55000 maple bucks but the poverty line for where they operate is currently at 60000. If you make it a year at there blistering release rate you might get a 10000 raise and maybe a bonus if your vids do particularly well. Linus also does not support work for home for his writers and only had it because the government forced him, he's also on record stating he doesn't want his workforce to unionize.

Seriously? The fuck is wrong with Linus? I honestly hope that the guy who sent the prototype manages to successfully sue him for everything that the technology might have been worth. Fuck him. Not only do you try and shit on somebody's product because you aren't using it as intended(something LTT would be all over if it were anybody else) but you go and fucking sell it? How is a charity auction even an excuse? You figure that would have more stringent standards. It also doesn't change the fact that you sold it ffs.

I hope Linus gets the shit sued out of him. What a shitty person. He always wines and bitches about his employees stealing from the office, yet he's this much fucking worse.

Damn, he's actually down over 100k subs. Not much in the grand scheme since it's still 15 million subscribers, but still that has to sting his ego.

The trouble with Linus Tech Tips is that it got too big for itself. It got to where it was because people wanted a nerdy guy doing deep dives on tech. Now its the sort of company that will race through tech faster than it can reasonably be fair to it.

The testing stuff is problematic, but the stuff with the prototype is just wrong. Then Linus' response made things worse.

What BS. This is the most corporate bs I've ever seen from them. It hardly even feels like a real apology. And linus' segment is seriously, "a wild linus appeared?" It didn't even feel like an honest apology beyond "sorry, our greed has caused us to keep putting too many videos out and refuse to stop until now."

On top of that, it looks like they're deleting comments related to the Madison stuff. Sure, I get that they probably took a bit to make this one and don't have anything ready for that yet, but they really think trying to hide the Madison stuff is helping?

Some of the responses to Madison's allegations on LTT forums are toxic as hell. Calling her 'fame hungry', 'attention seeking', etc.

With a story like this in mind, it seems like a real bad decision to have Linus' wife be the head of HR.

Bro wtf. Billet labs did not want to make the quoted price of the monoblock prototype public and these assholes just revealed it in this video with a screenshot of the email.

So apparently, Colton was the one who screwed up the Billet Labs GPU Water Block.

@ 13:13 of the Apology Video, Colton was selecting items to include in the "Charity Auction" & he accidentally selected Billet Labs ProtoType.

After Colton apologized and automatically agree-ing to pay Billet Labs back for his screw-up, he CCed the wrong person in the email, that's his bad on the 2nd mistake.

Man, how does Colton make so many mistakes of large proportions.

Shit happens.

This is the wake-up call that they need to improve, I'm glad they're taking their time to work through the problems.

Improve their work flow / processes to avoid more mistakes.

LTT never really stopped their start-up phase of the business even though they haven't been comparable to a start-up in a long time. That's likely on Linus specifically and the CEO change should help with fixing that issue.

Specially when Linus himself says companies need to do better and harshly criticizes others for doing what he is literally doing right now. Lying about paying Billet Labs back got shot down hard when they fired back that they were only contacted after GN released their video.

Linus didn't even discover the Billet incident until several hours later. Then Linus offers the apology himself.

Colton accidentally put up their prototype for auction to the charity. He admits to it in the video, go watch it.
Then he apologizes and offers immediately to pay them back in full (unconditionally).
But he CC's the wrong department.

ergo the time delay.

Things like this happen in a company.
