Never really played Skyrim before. But everything is gray and ugly, the fighting isn't fun, the NPCs are morons, and trying to hop your way up mountains sucks.

Am I doing something wrong? When does it get fun? I've put in about 20 hours - mostly doing side quests and fucking around.

It's a relaxing game imo. I remember spending a few hours crafting daggers to max out some of the skills (i forgot why this worked tho)

And then i had infinite mana somehow but the spells were still weak af unfortunately.

Played the ps3 version without mods. I'm sure pc experience wayy diff. I never felt like replaying the game after my initial stint tho

IDK, the game looks fine to me and I enjoy the combat and exploration (playing 2H Heavy Armor + Conjuration build at the moment). But yes there are many small slightly frustrating things which can ruin the enjoyment a bit, such as pretty frequent quest bugs (can't use the Unofficial patch on consoles either if you want achievements). I'd still give the game a 9/10.

I don't think it does. I put in 3 hours, got the same impression you did, and quit. Surprised you put in 20 hours.

Half the fun of Skyrim is installing mods, playtesting them, finding something else that you want to change with a mod, and starting the cycle over again. If you don't have access to a moddable version then I wouldn't really recommend it otherwise.

Bethesda RPG's all play like day old dogwater. Install mods or just bail.
