depends on the crime, I guess.

if it's something I care enough about, but felt I couldn't do anything about it on my own, then I'd probably call the police.

Depends entirely on context.

The place I grew up, you more or less had to handle it yourself because the police just wouldnt attend, and involving the police would normally cause you more shit down the line.

Where I spent most of my adult life, yeah , Id mostly call the police.

Now, I dont really speak the same language as the police, which complicates things.

If I witness a major crime I would call the police.

But I live and work in a rough area of town and see drug deals and theft all the time and just let it go. I dont even call for witnessing people get into people cars anymore because the two times I did call the police they openly didnt care and one time the cop got an attitude with me when they finally arrived.
