I know it's like a Dragonball RPG or something, but I've been seeing clips where the animation was really well done, like this.

I didn't like it. I spent forever on Xenoverse 2 and the gameplay in Kakarot is a big step back.

The controls feel a bit rough. And the enemy encounters are pretty annoying. I didn't get very far into it yet though. Funny, I was just talking about this game with my friend a couple hours ago.

Its fun

Mechanically it's fun. Combat is a step down from xenoverse, but fine. The rpg mechanics are decent, but nothing to write home about.

The side quests are great. For someone who is sick to death of the basic DBZ story, sidequests about Piccolo thinking yajirobe is the strongest human, or helping puar pose as yamcha so his girlfriends don't break up with him whole he's dead are all really fun. They add much needed spice.

The cutscenes are, of course, fucking gorgeous.

And I'm a sucker for the world map. The Dragon World was really lovingly crafted from the actual maps toriyama made over the years, and it's just so fun to explore. Fucking around and just stumbling into Orange Star High School or Gingertown in yhe saiyan saga just has this charm to it.

TBH my only real criticisms are the basic AF combat, the level scaling basically being worthless (the game basically railroads you to always be the level you need for the story, and if you're below the threshold side content is basically impossible), and the random encounters. My God, the random encounters. Throwaway enemies will hound you and be on your ass every five seconds and it is the most goddamn annoying thing ever.

Also, fwiw, the DLC is, in my opinion, much better than the main game. The History of Trunks dlc is fantastic (though tough as nails. Which I guess is fitting for the material), and the Bardock dlc is by far the most fun I had with the game.

Dragonball is sadly kinda underrepresented. We've got stuff like Yamcha's hideout in the desert, and the native tribe under Korin's tower. We've got the pirate robots from the red ribbon army arc, and all the red ribbon "bases" are straight rips of Muscle Tower. Some of the small towns have a passing resemblance to the ones Oolong held up, or the Monster Carrot village.

But no Pilaf's Castle, or Baba's Palace, CERTAINLY no penguin village. Kind of a shame. But the next DLC is covering the 23rd Budokai arc, so maybe we'll get some more of that, then.

Hell, they may even go back farther. It's ridiculous how much support the game has gotten; just like xenoverse 2, it's SO much fucking bigger than when it launched

It's your typical anime shovelware game, except it looks pretty.
