If it turns out that the truth is "he decided to step away due to his age and/or trouble with his voice", then I feel like that's exactly what they'll say in the video and we will know the real truth. I just hope that you (or other internet people) won't stick to some conspiracy theory where you claim that whatever they say in the video isn't true.

if it's his health that would explain a lot. i'm sure there's a lot of people a lot more committed to the theories than me and they can fight those fights. like I said before, I was just sharing some coincidences I found really interesting.

Nintendo/Illumination would not want there to be fan backlash from Martinet voicing displeasure with the Pratt thing, and they would have just had him sign an NDA and paid him a shitton to voice his two small cameos

On the above, Charles Martinet was doing a fan convention in Florida the weekend of the premiere. I really depends on how you feel about Charles' personality; either he went to the fan expo instead because he was salty OR he went to the fan expo because he has a loyalty to his fans. Either way, it is crazy that Charles Martinet did not attend the film premiere for a movie starring a character he has defined for decades (again he is IN THE MOVIE)

Could be that he signed up for the convention eight months before without knowing the movie's exact premiere date, then chose to value his fans over a movie where he had just a cameo.

I don't think Nintendo would lie to us about someone they respect so much. They really do appreciate him.

You'd think Pratt would be the easy choice. The movie was the perfect testing ground for such a transition. He's also younger than everyone else on this really weird list except Davidson. They're going to want someone who can do it for as long as Martinet did. Pratt is 44 y/o, so if he had 25 years in him, he'd be 69 y/o by that time - just a little older than Martinet is now.

It doesn't make sense to change the voice now and then change it again in less than a decade. It also doesn't make sense for most of these people to voice Mario. Nancy Cartwright is a head-scratcher - Bart Simpson doing an adult male Italian accent? Uhhh...

Pratt is the only one on that list who's feasible, and that's only because of the movie. Especially if Nintendo wants to go the fully-voiced route now (which is doubtful, but still).

I'm surprised we don't have people already doing a deep analysis on the Super Mario Wonder trailer.

The idea of Chris Pratt taking over for Mario in all Mario games is not plausible and it's very funny how many people have sincerely jumped to this conclusion

If any game company would shell out for him, it's Nintendo. Especially if it's for just a couple hours of work. (It's unlikely, but it's still feasible.)

Chris Pratt is not going to regularly fly to Washington state and record 4 hours of improv Yahoos and Wahaas

whoever they get needs some kind of range to do the other Mario characters and I cannot imagine Chris Pratt doing a Wario of any kind

Nah, the fact that Martinet could do all four and make them all sound similar but distinct was a bonus, but it's not necessary.

I seem to remember someone as a joke listing Tingle's English VA for Twilight Princess on IMDB as Snoop Dogg or someone similarly absurd

I rewatched the Wonder trailer to rehear the new voice for Mario now that the cats out of the bag, and a thought/theory popped into my head.

Its possible that Nintendo may be pulling a FF7R and recasting the whole Mario cast with new voice actors. Someone on this topic theorized that Nintendo wants to go in a new creative direction with Mario, and if theyre recasting the plumber himself, why not go the whole mile and give everyone a new voice? A lot of the legacy voices for characters such as Peach, Toad, and Bowser date back to the 2000s, so it would make sense theyd want something new after all this time.

It wouldn't surprise me if they're recasting everyone, but Mario is the biggest news, so it'd make sense to give that its own story.
