Remake 1-3 with combat from 4 imo.

It was a weird system but it's better than just rehashing the same generic right vs left combat. They already did this with one of them so do the others.

It was horrible. So many unwinnable fights in the beginning. Like the devs had a fetish for making the players get beaten.

Also there was a sword with two bullets and after hitting people with your sword twice you had to reload your sword.

Some of the creators of the Wild Arms games are currently developing a spiritual successor. They even got the original series composer on board and she is phenomenal!

Wild Arms 3 had a ridiculously tame 100 level dungeon that seemed to be the rage in RPGs of the period it was around. It was so unmemorable I don't remember what the point of it was, much less what the boss at the end was.

I'd be down for that.

I loved the first two games. I tried to play the third and it seemed like a great game to start off, but the auto advancing text with no option to turn it off ruined it for me very quickly.

I'd love to play Wild ARMs 3 if they fixed that.

Breath of Fire 5 had the hardest one. You needed to beat the game like 7 or 8 times to even have a chance.

I never beat the super boss in dragon quarter tbh. For some reason the PAL version didn't have suspend save, and I made the decision that there just weren't enough hours in the day to bother :)

I made it to the super boss half dead with no chance of winning and I just stared at it for a bit before turning off the game thinking that I'll get back to it some day after I accrue enough hold over XP again and then I never did.

I still think of doing it all over again from time to time but that's a lot of time to spend.

The boss is the staple Wild Arms superboss, Ragu O Ragula and the "true" form.
I remember it was a trivial battle if you get your party to resist fire element.

The 100 floor is not that hard either if you maxed your drifter level to cancel the encounters, and you can save inside the dungeon with gimel coin anyway.

Think Armed Fantasia will also have a spiritual predecessor to ol' Ragu? I would honestly be very shocked if it doesn't, if not straight up having Ragu itself.

4 also had based Raquel, that's gotta count for something!

...Actually, why do Wild Arms fans hate 4 so much again? That game was my first, actually still the only one I've beaten, but I remember liking it well enough. It's not exactly a terrible game as far as JRPGs go. And I actually liked the hex battle system, I remember it being a refreshing change of pace from whatever other JRPGs I was playing at the time.

Its one of those multiples things adds up to a not so pleasant experience for a lot of fans.

The main one to start off with that it did not "feel" like a wild arms game to many. Its the most kid-friendly of the games where your MC is just the village kid going on his adventure. The world doesn't have that same wild west feel the past 3 games had (the plot gives those persona 5 "adults kinda' suck" vibe. This is coming straight off wild arm 1's prisoner 666 MC, wild arm 2's demon summon ritual survival dude, and wild arm 3's drifter girl), and this didn't vibe with a lot of wild arms players. The hex system was brand new and while its a interesting system, it was like, poorly balanced. You either had a easy time cruising through everything, or you got this difficulty spike where you can get wiped before you move. At the same time from what I remember the hex system was done better in 4 than 5 overall, lol.

The series' traditional dungeon puzzles (some of them actually being pretty challenging and making you feel like a smarty when you finally solved them) was swapped out for basic qte platforming for the most part.

Its also the shortest out of the 5 games from what I remember. Like I said its more of a multiple things piling up to ruin the whole kinda' thing.

To be honest I liked wild arms 4 a whole ton better than breath of fire 5 dragon quarter. I can at least see some good in wild arms 4's hex system, but I kinda' hated dragon quarter in everyway.

If we really want to talk about lousy part 4's then suikoden 4 is probably the champion.

I remember actually quitting 5 right near the end because the final dungeon pulled that forcing you to use benched party members nonsense, and since I mostly focused on the initial 3 party members I didn't really know how to properly use my reserve members and they weren't adequately built for combat. Couldn't beat the fight at the start of the final dungeon and I just frankly didn't care enough to play anymore at that point. >_>

From the Wild ARMs wiki, the localization made him seem ambiguously gay, yes. The original script, he was not, as confirmed by Sony themselves back in the day. So he isn't gay....but at the same time he very well could be. Honestly all depends on which script you prefer. I grew up with the localization so to me, he'll always be "is he/isn't he?" lol.

Gay, straight, bi or whatever, Brad is the badass of the group, nothing will change my mind about that.
