I'm going there next month for the Babymetal/Dethklok concert. Any off the wall little known places I should check out while I'm there? Got about a day and a half to burn and looking into some things to see that isn't the usual tourist places.
Perhaps Kinokuniya, Book Off, Ichiran, maybe Japan Town in Industry City Brooklyn.

Been there a ton, never liked it. Always smells like septic and everyone there looks sad. But they get all the good concerts so I'll still go.
areas near concert venues like MSG tend to have some unsavory-ness. Maybe go out and explore the rest of the city.

My brother lives in one of the boroughs so Ill go visit him pretty regularly.. I live in MA so Im supposed to hate NY out of pure tradition but I dont. Ive been going there since I was a kid and was (and still am) amazed by how tall everything is. It just feels like the city itself is and will always be alive with people doing god knows what and god knows who lol

Just never feels like you are alone in that city and like you can just blend in and immediately join some sort of life stream on the trains or walking down some random street
It does get pretty random.

Been there once for a business trip. Didn't get to see much because of that. Only was in Manhattan.

No but I want to. If I ever get a huge disposable income I would love to take a two week trip there.

Every day I wake up and promise I will be nice to everyone, then I deal with people at work and remember why that will never happen.

Keep in mind, at one point, The Brooklyn Bridge was the tallest structure in the City.
~Pretty crazy when you think about it.
