To be clear, you could stay in the same city, but you would have to relocate your home at least once a month. Whether its a place you own, rent, hotel, friends house, whatever. You have to move on.

You cannot go back to staying there again for 5 years, so you cant just alternate between 2 homes.

If you break the rules, you die a slow, painful death.

I think this would be the way to handle it. Lots of high end hotels.

Yeah, you can keep a legal address, you just cant actually reside there for more than a month every 5 years.

More or less what I had in mind, literally "relocating my home"

I'd be relocating my home. Every single bit of it.

I'd even spend the money to make it road legal in the EU... and load it on a transport ship. Then take it around Europe and Asia.

If we can't stay in the same mobile home, what if we kept the same physical address and swapped out mobile homes?

With a billion dollars I could buy 60 houses and just rotate through them, paying people to move furniture as I go. Or furnish every house, this is a billion dollars we're talking about.

Or I could just buy a condominium complex and move from condo to condo if that's allowed.

This is the way to go. $1 billion can easily buy and furnish 60 homes to rotate.

Yes, but you wouldnt be able to reuse that mobile home for five years, same as a stationary one.

60 homes is fine. Different condos in the same building is no good though. Should be a different building.

Which is doable with a billion dollars.

5 years=60 months

Assuming you can buy at least 60 houses at around $200,000 each, that would only cost about 12 million. Meaning you still have $988,000,000 left for furnishing them all, living expenses, etc. It's very doable to live comfortably and keep rotating.

In fact you could even profit from it by renting out over 50 houses during the time that you aren't living in them.

So let's see

12 months a year means I need 60 homes, let's call it 70 homes to be safe.

Average condo in my area is about $250,000

250,000 x 70 = 18 mil give or take.

This is such an easy decision it's not even a choice.

If you invested just half of that at a 6% interest rate you'd make $30 million a year in interest alone. You'd always have the money to buy any home you needed whenever you'd need it.

A billion dollars is nice, but I'm a homebody and moving every month would be a huge pain in the ass. I would never actually have somewhere to call home. Not an easy decision, and I don't think I'd ultimately go for it.

Hell, if you took half of that billion just for the purpose of buying 60 homes, you could buy each home at an average of $8.33 million. And thats not including any investment income on top of it.

I mean heck, with that money you could have 60 identical homes built next to each other so the moving is minimal. Just maybe paint the month and year that you're using them on the door or something so you don't accidentally use the wrong one and die a slow, painful death.

I would probably buy a few acres of land and just build a bunch of identical tiny homes on it. Coupled with a common area for eating, entertainment and whatnot, I can just keep those homes extremely simple, just a 1 bedroom home with an attached bathroom. Use the rest of the money to travel once or twice a year.
