I wouldn't say I became a "failure" per se. I prefer to think of myself more as a professional burnout.

I initially was suppose to be great because my brother was great, then I received no support and became my family's greatest failure. I struggled with mediocrity for years and then I slowly became great on my own and surpassed any prior expectations. Thus I can relate very well with Drew Brees.

Yeah.

It don't really feel like much. The negative part of me wants me to feel like I've disappointed people. But that's buried far below the part of me that just doesn't care anymore, I'm just too exhausted. People expect much from you regardless of any talent you show yet so few of them actually try to nurture you. Every once in a while you get that cool teacher who really does care about the students and wants to help but at least in my experience, the education system in America is so fucked that it doesn't even matter. Whole shit is rigged.

Story of my life. I dropped so many scholarship opportunities out of apathy. Sure wish that whole ADHD thing was resolved a lot sooner.

So you ended up verbally abusing your mother until it killed her?

Not really looked at with potential and thought of as an absolute failure and waste of time and resources

I dont even entertain the idea of usefulness of myself anymore

Eh, broken clock.

Lots of people went through this. I was lied to by my parents and even the system (put in one of those extra programs for gifted kids) only to learn upon becoming an adult that Im of far below average intelligence.

i sure would like to find out who put that system in place and retroactively delete three levels of their ancestry from the universe.

Thats the program in question. They had the class do a test and I guess my parents paid them to choose me.

teachers always thought I was smart and were upset with me for wasting my potential, but they never understood it was always a sham
I had a nice vocabulary because I always had my nose buried in a book from like age 4 on, that doesn't make me smart
as I would dedicate my life to proving

Year 5-6 huh. Something similar was going on in the UK education system in that range, guess it's a global epidemic of bureaucratic nonsense. Or at least an anglosphere one.

I was an outsider when I was young, mainly because I grew up in one of the most conservatives villages in Switzerland. We moved there when I was 5 years old because my parents found a job there. They don't like new people there. I was interested in gaming, comics and cartoons, while the farmer's boys and girls there rather talked about mopeds or cars. On top of that, I was very intelligent. I could already read, write and do basic math pretty well when I was 4 -5 years old and always had top grades in school. So they naturally hated me and my family. The parents divorced when I was 9, but for other reasons. So I know how it is to be an outsider and naturally, money was always an issue back then.

Luckily, it changed when I grew up. I made some good decisions and also had luck. My life's good and I'm very happy overall. I guess, I have a natural talent to make the right decisions and not stress myself too much. People usually admire how I go through life, though I constantly tell them it's not always so easy as it seems. It requires the will to constantly work on myself. I try to not harm anyone and leave good behind, while enjoying things I like to do.

I dont think I was considered great when I was younger.

No idea if my parents or anyone consider me a failure though. Its honestly hard to gauge because Ive never been one to define myself by my education and / or career. I sometimes think of myself as a failure in certain respects, but I also understand that whats getting me down is something a LOT of people in my generation are dealing with. Still sucks though.
