An Alien ship from beyond the moon arrives and lands in Tuscarawas County, Ohio.

Suddely giant slobbering aliens burst out out of it like excited Rednecks jumping out of a pick up truck to shoot deer and they start devouring the townspeople as effortlessly as you would devour a KFC chicken strip.

After an inital burst of gobbling up, the aliens seem to get confused and back down once they observe humans communicating and using technology, then they return into their ship and fly into orbit. Leaving a handful of half eaten corpses behind but mostly nothing left of once was the centre of a community of people. Families, wives, kids, postmen. All eaten.

After a while the aliens make contact and insist this was a mistake and they just didn't realize humans were intelligent. They were just hunting for food across the universe. Found this backwater shitty planet no one had ever heard of before and decided to go hunting. They had never met alien life before that was self-aware and more intelligent than a pigeon. So this was totally out of their wheelhouse and not something the aliens on board were allegedly prepared for.

They say they want to try first....well second contact again at a location arranged by humans this time, and establish formal diplomatic relations with Joe Biden/other world leaders.

How do you react?
Do you think the governments of Earth should trust them?

They couldn't have done the minuscule amount of recon needed to notice all the obviously man-made structures everywhere?

How do you react?
Realize the world has ended, since any Aliens that have engines faster than lightspeed, could literally destroy the earth in less than 60 seconds. Join the resistance and steal one of their ships, so we can destroy their world before they destroy ours.

Do you think the governments of Earth should trust them?
No, but they can't be seen to be supporting the resistance, either.

We've evolved to consume other species, on this planet.
Aliens that are from another world, wouldn't have evolved to consume us, as such.

So, they've genetically modified themselves to eat us, or we both have a common dominator from which we were derived -- both of which are quite concerning.

Beavers have structures too.

Would you be furious if a hunter killed and ate a beaver without "recon"?

Nah, their story doesn't add up. How did they think the satellites around the planet got there, or the buildings and cars in the town they landed in? Nothing with the intelligence of a pigeon is building things like that.

I think there's plenty of examples of things they could see on Earth that are more advanced than throwing a bunch of branches together. You could maybe make an argument if they landed in some remote tribal village, but presumably Tuscarawas County, Ohio is going to be full of roads and cars and powerlines and meticulously laid out buildings and...

Advanced enough to travel the galaxy in search of food sources, not advanced enough to notice all the cities and structures that could only be built by a decently intelligent civilization? Seems legit.

I don't buy the story that it was accidental, but they have advanced technology and opted to belatedly take a diplomatic approach? I'd hope that world leaders would angle to get reparations for the atrocity they committed and hope to move forward in peace and solidarity.

It's not like we haven't done worse to ourselves.

I wouldn't trust them, but I would be open to diplomacy, given that they paid reparations for their transgressions.
