I work at an oil change place with 7 employees and one manager. We all have the same complaints about the boss. I could get 100% of us on board with the idea of unionizing for more pay and stuff, I just don't know how to actually get what we're asking for. Also the store is corporate so I don't know how empowered my boss is to make changes himself

I feel like unions that work have to be larger scale than 7 people but I mean depends on how replaceable you are

We unionized at our work place. They fired all the ring leaders. The labor relations board filed a suit. They were all offered their jobs back like 2 years later with full backpay and such under the condition they paid back all unemployment.

Some came back. Some didn't.

The company fought tooth and nail against it but it got voted in slightly.

The first step is obviously contacting a union that might be interested. Then it's about bringing it to a vote. I really don't know if any unions would want somewhere with 7 employees though. Not enough dues vs the potential costs. Maybe if you can be lumped in with others.

Also unionizing doesn't automatically mean more pay and stuff.

It's a great way to get yourself fired if you're not careful.

So a planet's somewhere out there, their history the same as ours is written. The only difference is that... Everyone's a kitten!

Gotta dot your Is and cross your ts. If they can make a case it wasn't union related, you might lose. I think when they fired like 13 people at my place for it, 11 won and 2 didn't.

Some folks at my old job wanted to unionize. They were supposed to have a meeting with union reps and everything, but hardly anyone showed up. I came to regret that.

This. Just find a local union that serves similar businesses. They will either help you out or be able to direct you to somewhere that can.

Fuck management.
