I've always thought it was silly to keep using K in the titles after 2K9, because then after that, the K just replaces a 0 and is the same length anyway.

Because it's too much of a grind and microtransactions take the piss.

Plus, I'm not really into basketball anymore, my nearest team changed owners and he changed the identity of the team from Glasgow Rocks to Caledonia Gladiators. Yes, it's essentially the same team in all but name. The team is being relocated to the arse end of nowhere in a place that isn't easy to get to.

Because NBA 2K23 was one of the free PS+ games a few months back, and Im in the middle of a season with a friend

You know whats crazy is I own every nba 2k game physically since 2k6 with the exception of 2k9 because I refused to buy the one with Kevin Garnett on the cover

and I have no interest in getting 2k24.

but I probably still will

Every time I try to play NBA 2K when I get a free copy from a bundle or PS+, I absolutely cannot stand how it plays. Every character feels like they are walking through ankle high wet concrete.

Ill get it in January when its $5

I'm a huge NBA fan and 2K games are just a disgusting money grab. Haven't bought it since 2k20.

You either need to do a ridiculous amount of grinding to upgrade your created player to 95+ or you need to pay not to grind.

The other popular mode is about collecting cards, but it either requires a lot of luck or money spent to get most of the best cards.

All of this would be somewhat digestible, plenty of other games have similar moneygrab systems.

But none are damn annual, fully priced releases. Just as you get everything you need, it's all reset and goes to waste because the game dies when the new one gets released.

If there was any justice, both EA and 2K would have their sports licenses taken away.

The Ultimate Team stuff is what really gets me. Sure there are reasons to be upset about the gameplay or missing features, presentation etc but ppl actually pump all this money into a game mode and after one year it is mostly useless?

Makes cosmetics in mmos seem like a top tier investment. At least that stuff sticks around and can be seen by others.

Well, EA lost the FIFA license because FIFA were asking for too much, still making a football game and it's under 3 weeks till release, under 2 if you get the Ultimate Edition

2) Plate is full with Solasta: Crown of the Magister; Crpg fan means no days off

Ultimate team is what ruined Madden for me, and they appear to be focusing on Ultimate Team in NHL and RUINED that series for me too.

I bought every single NHL game since 2008 until 2022, and I stopped at NHL 23 because they fucking gutted all the presentation out of the game.

Because it's literally the exact same game as 2k14, with a roster patch, new ads, and a microtransaction reset. Like every year.

Because fuck microtransaction games

NBA2k actually resembles basketball and is a solid game if we look at just the engine and mechanics.
The problem is that idiotic fanboys always cry about stuff that gets made more realistic, so we end up with every subpar shooter rating wise being able to hit every shot in hands of a good player, which completely breaks the game and makes it unrealistic.

FIFA on the other hand absolutely doesn't represent the game of football.

This is all fine and true but the shooting has gotten pretty damn hard in recent years. If I'm playing on anything above pro difficulty I have to practice for several minutes to get a player's moves and shot timing down, even for great players. I frequently blew layups even with the green meter on 2k23.

I still can't get the hang of 2k23, but it's also the first basketball game I've played since NBA Jam.

I'm not buying 2k until it's under $20. The year they turned MyGM into an online mode with "score" ruined it for me. MyLeague is the only thing worth actually playing.

I wish I was patient enough to wait that long

NBA 2K's gameplay has generally been clunky after 2K11
Your teammates AI is consistently Godawful and will just leave the opposing team's players wide open for jumpshots and layups/dunks, not actually guard anything leaving you try to defend all 5 positions at all times.

On top of it 2K24 is a celebration of Kobe my favorite player but it's so half-assed. They don't have the 81 point game or 60 point Finale in there as a Mamba challenge. At least Bynum and Odom are finally in the game so I guess I'll give them some props.

If they add more Mamba Challenges, I'll probably get it after a price drop as the Magic/Bird, Jordan, Kobe, LeBron era rosters intrigue me.

This is what I want. I want a new updated NBA Jam. Modern graphics with lots of legends and modern players. Of course it would be screwed with micro transactions if they ever did.
