Lets say, a demonic entity proposes a deal with you to make sure your pets live longer. With the Deal, you have to shorten your lifespan by 12 years, and add it to your Pet(s). So lets say you were originally supposed to pass away at 90. With the deal, you'd only life up to 78. Etc

That 12 Years, is Added to your Pet. Whether it's your Cat, Dog, Parrot, etc. Would you take the deal and shorten your life span, to make sure your pet(s) live a longer life with you?

Important Notes:
  • You won't know when you specifically pass away
  • Your Pet will be fully healthy and will go through no health issues until it's last year/the 12th year
  • If you have multiple pets atm, then the 12 years gets added to each of them as well
  • If you currently have no Pets, but you used to have one and it died: Then your former pet gets revived, retains all of his/her memories, and gets to live for 12 years.

Taking aside the fact I don't have a pet, not a chance.

I don't think I would do it for my spouse, either, unless I were to find out their life would be unexpectedly shortened. All things considered, they are already likely to outlive me.

I wish some people could say no without literally objectifying something that is living. Like, dang, this is why i really dislike owners. I used to think it was the specific animals i disliked, but it's definitely the owners. Learn some sensitivity and think beyond yourself.

Idk, if dogs could hypothetically have comprehension skills up to that level... maybe they would.

They could literally be very attached to their owners, some even, in reality, risk their life to protect their owner. Which is not much different if you think about it.

Dogs are cool.

No. They have a natural life span just like everything else. They come and they go. You can get a new friend after they are gone but you will retain the memories.

12 years or 2, they're still doing to die eventually. This is the way of things.

Old cats do not seem comfortable. Nearly doubling their lifespan makes me think they wouldn't be that happy with it. It'd be like me living to be 100.

I'll have you know I had 3 dogs and only Tanner liked to play the way I liked, and only Tanner liked to comfort me when I was sad. No dog could possibly replace Tanner, which is just one reason why I've no intention of getting another dog.

Not to take this too seriously but I can't help but feel like people who'd seriously do it must not have any other friends or family, or didn't actually give it much thought.

Nobody but the owner and pet would benefit from the pet living longer but many other people would be deprived of the owner 12 years earlier. As selfless as it might seem to say yes, it's more than likely actually extremely selfish.

Pets are great, they can even be wonderful. But they're pets.

I do too tbh but meh. If he says so then.. okay I guess. I don't care enough to try refuting it.

An example I could imagine is maybe a person who's outlived all their close friends and family, but not so old 12 years would kill them, that's only real remaining family is a treasured pet or something.

Or an antisocial shut in, or something. Not knocking it, just super sayin.

I mean, I get that. Humans and animals can have quite close relationships. And why it's a sad topic to think about.

Doesn't change that statistically speaking, no, humans will not put pets above their human loved ones. And mind you, I mean actual human loved ones. A spouse, a son... not some rando either, just to be more clear.
