He starts from the conclusion "Seattle desperately needs more cops", works his way through the evidence against that conclusion, and just sputters because he can't reach an endpoint that squares those things.

I thought the conservative complaint was that liberals wanted to defend the police, now you're saying someone who wants more is a liberal?

Nothing wrong with trying to address policing issues. Even if some "liberal" flops around about it.

Let's not cherry pick incidents and pretend they are arguments worth entertaining.

But I also wonder about my own liberal tribe, and its sometimes tenuous relationship to this concept of accountability

We do need more. Reduce call waiting time. Were shorthanded to 5 people on our squad we should have 10. And we should have 12 but they lowered the mandatory staffing because theres no longer enough people.

There was 20 plus calls from citizens holding yesterday and we were all assigned to something. There was 6 calls holding at 6 fucking am. Theres no end in sight

Hmm, not sure if I understand that. But there needs to be "policing" of the "policing."

The public, to a degree, being head honcho.

I say a degree, in the same way that the constitution stops us from voting if slavery is legal every other cycle.

It can both be the case that we need more police and at the same time that the current police have issues relating to corruption, competence, etc.
