It's off and on, I've been hit for it once or twice but not nearly as many times as I've called someone a moron.

Yeah to me thats a silly one. Calling someone a moron is like calling them a dummy. Its too juvenile to be a legitimate flame.

If it's intentionally to one specific person, then it's abusive behavior.

If it's a group of people in an antagonistic manner, it's trolling.

Just don't do it at all. Seems pretty simple.

It all depends which mod handles it I feel. Some are more lenient while some are more 'by the book'

Its not abusive if they came at you first. You cant be an abuser if youre responding to an attack.

If someone is attacking you then report them. Retaliation doesn't make you exempt from the rules here.

Good job completely missing my point. Im saying the insult is so seldom moderated, I didnt even know it was against the rules. Its not like a bank robbery where you know its a crime.

And saying retaliation doesnt make you exempt from the rules is such an over the top thing to say about a crime I didnt even know I committed. Especially since I never claimed to be exempt from the rules in the first place.

It actually isn't seldom moderated. Intelligence based insults are one of the most long-standing violations on the site, with idiot, moron, etc being pretty consistently modded over the years.

If you consider being called a moron an offensive insult, you mustve had a very difficult childhood. I also recommend avoiding childrens cartoons, since Squidward calls SpongeBob a moron quite often.

Most, but not all. There are definitely instances of users being called morons in those search results.

And yes Im well aware of the difference. Still doesnt change the fact that its been used as a derogative and went unmodded. And will most likely continue to be used in the future.

As was already said, it varies from mod to mod.

Moron is one of the more clear cut insults for Abusive around here. It is likely to be moderated nearly 100% of the time if marked.

It also is entirely possible that itd be actioned with a Notify Without Deletion, so the post may remain up even if its acted upon.
