I wonder how Seth Green feels about this.

Dude probably wasted over a million bucks buying for and paying ransom to get back those dumb things.

And that dude is Gen X... probably the least likely to fall for scams being raised in the analog world and transitioned to digital throughout our whole lives. Also being culturally cynical and raised to accept there's no shortcut to wealth.

He should know better... he will just have to make more robot chicken episodes to make the cash back!

As a millennial in computer science who gets or works with undergrad/grad interns yearly, it is pretty odd how tech illiterate zoomers can be. Scared of torrenting stuff or even using super easy to find online archives of textbooks, can't reliably Google stuff when their code doesn't work which is probably the most important ability you need for CS, and they didn't like getting out of their comfort zone to learn stuff relevant to what they're working on without me having to flat out send them links and half the time it's for stuff I don't know because that's what interns are for

They're the kings of phone apps though

Just sounds like younger people just have more opportunities to get hacked across multiple profiles while a boomer would just have one email and maybe one social media account.

Nah I work in IT and zoomers for the most part are just as tech dumb as boomers, if not more. I would argue boomers can follow simple instruction better.

Boomers and Zoomers are naive, so are suckers for scams.

Tech literacy doesn't factor into it.

A sucker's a sucker, regardless. Which is my Gen-Xers are less affected, as they're cynical as fuck.

That was my point.

The difference is more the fact that Gen Z is online almost 100% of the time they're awake, whereas the average boomer maybe has one email and a FB account that they check 2-3 times a day, if at all.

It's more about opportunity than anything else.

It's sad how my generation the millennials and late gen Xers failed to educate that generation of internet etiquette. We just shoved an iPad in front of them right out the womb because we couldn't be bothered to do genuine parenting. Some of most ill equipped individuals to be parent are usually the ones to be the parents. It annoys me.

Its true gen Z is a tech illiterate generation like Boomers are, but that shouldnt mean they lack other forms of intelligence required to avoid scams
they just switch off their brains when it has anything to do with technology even if you dont need any understanding of it whatsoever to recognise the scam

Also for some reason kids don't recognize the term zoomer as a term for themselves and call everyone older boomers

scammers are extremely aggressive on zoomer social platforms.

like, sure, they have a presence on outlets more frequented by boomers, but the tactics are far less sophisticated.

scammers targeting millennials are somewhere in between, a mix of both.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

I worked a few times with students pre-college and they have way less street sense than I expected. You learn those things through social interactions, and I guess they aren't getting them like kids used to. There's always been scams and grifters in society, why wouldn't they be online too? They don't think like that.
