The start is legendary, and each time the melody shifts, it changes to something else that's equally great. What a song. It's amazing that Yuko Takehara composed one song for this game and it's the best thing in the game or any other game she worked on. The individual parts of Zero are good, but I don't think they flow together well at all. Bubble Crab is all good, but unlike some of the songs with 30 second loops, it feels really short. At least every part of it sounds cool. All dat water. Not a fan of the melody whoops. The melody at the end section is very epic too. No wonder this was super popular in nominations. Let's see this medley then... oh, this is Yoshimi Kudo, checks out how it made it here. The initial X vs Zero part doesn't sound that good, but from the 2 minute mark on forward it's pretty cool. That means I'm just mixed on it, and I'll take the solid track instead. Wait, this melody is similar to... goes away for 20 minutes... Unforgettable, The Nostalgic Greenery from Touhou 15! Wow, what a nice similarity to find around here, but I digress. Bubble Crab is pretty great, good use of the SNES soundfont. The balance of the calm and the rocky section are great too. I'll be checking this song more often. As I love whales, I might be a little biased about this next track. Well, it's nice, it's pretty mysterious and has a nice atmosphere. Despite this simple, yet glowing praise, Kuwanger's competition is just that much more interesting, and in a good way. There's so much more to sink my teeth in, and in a way that doesn't drag on. Tornado Man's remix might have been my favourite discovery of songs I didn't support, but this might be one of mine that I did. The X5 part just hits a lot harder than it did in the original yesterday! Oops?? Bubble Crab has that Mega Man fun factor going for it, but what caught my attention personally was the stuff that feels aquatic. That intro! Speaking of aquatic. McWhalen hits this particular vibe much harder. Those sonar pings are so fucking cool and the "choir" sounds?? Yes please. Mega Man please don't hold back on more atmospheric touches.
