President Trump buys a @GLOCKInc in South Carolina! his spokesman, Steven Cheung, wrote in his post. The video showed Mr. Trump among a small crowd of people and posing with a man holding the gun. A voice can be heard saying, Thats a big seller.
...
But within two hours of the initial post on social media, Mr. Cheung deleted his post, and issued a statement saying, President Trump did not purchase or take possession of the firearm. He simply indicated that he wanted one.


Not the smartest idea.

Section 922(d)(1) makes it unlawful to sell or otherwise dispose of a firearm to a person who is under indictment for, or has been convicted in any court of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year.

My guess is he was bullshitting to appeal to the 2A crowd. I think guns are one of the things he pays lip service to just because he has to. It's like the trans issue, where he does the same thing except is noticeably more uncomfortable being against it (he let trans women participate in his pageants).

Also paying for the gun? Highly doubt Trump would pay for something.

All firearm purchases at locations licensed to sell firearms have to be subject to a federal background check, via ATF form 4473. Your ID is taken and the check is performed.
