Apparently this civil suit is a bench trial because Trumps lawyer Alina Habba screwed up on the paperwork early on and didnt request a jury trial within 15 days of the note of issue being filed by the New York AG.

This is crazy as hell in my mind

Ive been paying attention to this case since NY AG Letitia James announced it. I looked at the relief she was requesting in this lawsuit I thought she had a case because Trump is such a serial liar, but I questioned whether the relief would actually be granted. The case progressed, and the judge said the trial was happening on October 2nd, 2023 come hell or high water. The judge was very well aware of Trumps common attempts to delay things. Then he actually appointed a financial monitor, which made me even more convinced that he would rule in favor of the state.

And then today, the judge actually just fucking canceled their business licenses because the evidence presented is overwhelming. Its real now And Im still surprised and trying to wrap my head around this. I wasnt expecting this to be a real thing that happened to Trump because he has gotten away with just paying a relatively small fine for his fraud so many times in the past. Trump literally had to shut down the Trump Foundation because he kept stealing money from it. He just had to pay a fine a they all just moved on as if nothing happened.

Its happening, though. Business licenses canceled. And according to Tristan Snell, the properties will basically be treated like Trump is bankrupt

Trump has lost his business empire in the state of New York. From what I've been reading, it'll basically be treated like a bankruptcy. The court has given them 10 days to find up to 3 people to handle the dissolution of all of their companies that are incorporated in New York.

His lawyers also got sanctioned for making frivolous claims in court.

The trial next week is still supposed to happen because the judge only made a summary judgement in a part of the state's case, but this is the core of what the state was suing Trump and his adult children for.

He still has businesses outside of New York, but I believe the New York stuff is the lion's share since that's where he lived for most of his life.

I have no idea how this part works. I'm pretty much gonna have to look at what knowledgeable people in the field say about things as they happen.

Yeah. It'll be interesting to see how the appeals court handles this. I would think they'd have to actually give a legitimate response in the appeal for a stay to be granted. Trump's lawyers got sanctioned for making multiple frivolous claims in this case.

The fine he'll have to pay is yet to be decided. The state wants $250,000,000, but we'll have to see what the judge decides. The trial is set to start next week on October 2nd.

I don't think it's just about the fine. His lenders may very well start calling in his loans due to this ruling. That would be me re damaging than a fine by the state

I'm pretty sure the judge in the case is tired of Trump's shit, and will just appoint one himself.

I read through some of the order today and was more shocked at how the judge went after Trumps legal representation. We all know Trump is a lying fraud but the way the judge went after his lawyers in this case is pretty remarkable and rare. They bring the whole profession down and there should be more judges willing to do that.

It seems like Trump's lawyers are proceeding as if dissolution will 100% happen. They may say something entirely different in public, like Alina Habba publicly criticizing the ruling. But in court, it seems like they're just moving along as if they aren't going to appeal it. At least, so far.

This is whole thing is wild to me.

Summary judgments are explicitly appealable. They must have nothing if they don't even want to try.

Looking forward to receivership.
