He wouldn't organize everyone contributing $20 towards a get-well gift for you if you had a heart attack.

Fuck that guy.

What a blatant and lazy attempt at the elites trying to get more of their worker's money lol.

For the CEO? Hard pass.

There was that one time Walmart tried to do a canned food drive for their own employees. But then the public quickly pointed out that they should just pay their employees a living wage. Walmart wasn't too happy to hear that.

Shit like this just feeds into the delusion CEOs have of being gods gift to mankind

I think only direct reports should be the ones to contribute to something like this. Let the rest of the C-suite buy their boss a $1000 vintage or whatever they had in mind, but dont hand it down to the workers below like its some kind of obligation.

Look, Tenie, if you are so concerned about the people not giving up a chunk of their daily earnings for a far more expensive get well soon gift for the CEO than they will ever get you can cover the difference since making sure the CEO feels appreciated and cared about beyond a card is such and important thing to you.

Otherwise, everyone else is completely right that expecting the grunts to cough up for what would likely be a several hundred dollar gift for a person who makes orders of magnitude more than them, has insurance far better than them, and could actually pay for care out of pocket without them being financially ruined at the behest of one of their direct superiors(power issue) is bullshit. A sentiment that would not be returned on any of them. But leave it to a certain someone to have a hella take.

I havent even defended this instance yet because the TC hasnt provided the relevant information needed to, just the general idea that giving a get well soon present to somebody who makes more money than you isnt inherently wrong and to be balked at. Im pretty sure at this point that its just a troll thread to rile up a bunch of anti-work and anti-CEO people.

If you think get well soon gifts are the worst ideas then I dont know what to tell you beyond please get some perspective on life because yours is way off. Do you also think an ops director is making 400 times what TC does?

I defend cops when I think theyre in the right and dont when I think theyre not. I also didnt agree with or defend Trumps family separation policies. I dont even know what defending millionaires is supposed to mean because people who manage to save up enough for a comfortable retirement fall into that group and why would they need attacking or defending? Please, if you have a problem with me at least have one based on reality and not whatever bullshit you decide to make up in the moment.

How big is the company? If it's a smaller one where everyone knows everyone and assuming the CEO is well respected and actually cares about his staff I get it.

If it's some massive faceless company where you are a cog then hell no.

I think it also depends on if this is nice "request" or a demand. I think context is important here and we need some.

They can buy him a card and maybe some flowers that the Ops can shell for. Or does he deserve better because he's a CEO that is too pedestrian?

But hey, it's totally everybody else being butthurt and sensitive. Not the person running in to try the shame game and call others anti-work and anti-ceo because other's aren't down with expecting the grunts to shell for the CEO.
