This game's two decades old and I got curious about how well it'd aged.
I want to use some Pokemon that I wouldn't normally pick.
That basically means none of the usual suspects. No Crobat, no Swellow, no Gardevoir, no Gyarados, no Flygon and no Hariyama. Starter's probably getting phased out after a while too.

I'm strongly considering Aggron and Shedinja.

Honestly Gen 3 has some of the most solid pokemon available, ain't many bad choices

Cacturne could be fun. I can't remember if Sucker Punch exists in Gen 3 though and I'm trying not to just look everything up. Gonna catch a Shroomish to hold a spot for Cacturne later.

The game's really tempting me. It's already given me a decent Ralts and Taillow. Into the PC they go.
Another problem, some of these might be lost to me forever because my cartridge's internal battery is gone.

I put all 3 Regis on the team.
I've done multiple of these unusual team composition playthroughs. Bringing a stack of legendary Pokemon has regained some of its appeal.

And are there even any other Pokemon games where I can use the Regis?

Ludiculo is a strong swift swim contender with good typing and decent bulk. I feel it is underappreciated.

Would be a pretty decent team. maybe swap out something for dodrio if you want a flyer. The fossils are also both great options that are underated.

Has nothing to do with putting a team together but I need to express that this took place.
Kyogre did something almost as bad when I was throwing Pokeballs at it earlier and I was willing to let it slide, but this is something else.

In the later games with the Pal Park, can I have the Pokemon I send hold items?
I have three Regis and I did a Platinum playthrough a while back. I was thinking since Sapphire doesn't have a lot of postgame, I could send them over and get Regigias.

It'd also be nice to bank another Master Ball. I caught a Latias on Heart Gold the tedious way so the one in Sapphire isn't a huge difference maker. I think I left Cresselia roaming so maybe I could Master Ball that.

Yes, but you can't send items forward beyond gen 4. I sent a bunch of TMs and masterballs from sapphire and leaf green to gen 4, as well as a bunch of Regis and kyorges which I used for GTS fodder to fill the Pokedex in gen 4.

I think I did like 15 runs of sapphire one summer just to keep grabbing the rare items and pokemon.

Sucker Punch didn't exist in Gen 3.
The internal battery just means clock events can't happen. No regrowing berries but time sensitive evolutions aren't in RSE iirc.

Cacturne is fun.
Shedinja will either be the best pokemon on your team or the worst, just depends on the battle. A ton of fun though when the NPC's lose their mind because they have no answers. Happens more than you think.

You should try Grumpig. Special tank and if you delay it's evolution two levels it naturally learns Psychic at level 34.

Altaria is fun but hard to raise.

Breloom is good but don't expect to get decent grass damage on anything that doesn't have a weakness to it. It's mostly a Sky Uppercut machine but a damn good one.
