i took the covid vaccines, i got covid anyway, i stopped taking them. if a strain rolls around that's significantly more deadly than the ones in circulation right now, i'll consider getting a booster then.

You don't have to be immunocompromised to benefit from more people being vaccinated. There are plenty of healthy people who were laid low by Covid who are suffering to this day. The vaccines were proven to reduce the likelihood of this happening to people.

If you follow the experts as you claim, you would get these vaccines.

It's crazy how tens of millions of Americans truly think the very concept of vaccines is a sham. This is why I say there is no difference between being anti-vax and anti-COVID vax. The rhetoric implies that no vaccines are useful.

The poll options are dumb. My views have def changed but arent represented.

I understand peoples hesitancy and see it more like a flu vaccine now than I did at first. Originally, it was different and seemed more critical to have. The window has closed and Covid is not going away. Its also not killing you unless you have some kind of underlying condition.

I have had all the recommended vaccines and boosters. I have an appointment on Monday to get the new booster.

Listen to doctors and not politicians about your health. Judge your own risks and make your own decision. Covid is much more likely to harm you than the vaccine even if you think there are legitimate questions about its effectiveness.

there are different vectors, but the endgame of vaccines in general is immunization against particular viruses (and in a few cases, microbial or otherwise microscopic infections) within some range of genetic variance. that variance increases over time with mutation, and coronaviruses are especially aggressive in the rate that they do so, hence the need for frequent boosters.

with this in mind, some may elect to keep up with every booster to mitigate any risk of virally-induced fatality, and others like myself just keep tabs on public death rate data and reporting on new strains as a litmus test for harmful mutations and thus booster necessity, otherwise taking recommended precautions and quarantining in the rare occasions that i actually get sick from anything - covid or no - letting my immune system do its job in the interim.

to the hater squad that posted after umbreon: i follow biomed research publications on the development of vaccines for neglected tropical diseases, which i'm quite passionate about, and i take any recommended immunizations prior to overseas travel. failing to perfectly toe the line set by corporations like a ballet dancer doesn't make me an "anti-science chud."

This is the best piece of advice in the topic. Your doctor not only understands the medical science behind this stuff but they know you, what kind of health you're in, and your specific medical conditions. Your doctor is in a better position to advise you on vaccines than any politician, pundit, or random person on the internet.

What a grotesque article.

Even if you set aside the fact that children have actually died from covid, one of the primary reasons for vaccinating them was to protect teachers and caregivers.

Haven't looked at the numbers in a while but something like 100k children lost their primary caregivers to covid last I checked in like... 2021. And those caregivers get covid from their children.

The infuriating part about this is that this has been explained to these assholes over and over and over again to the point that ignoring it is just fucking lying.

Well the place nearest me for vaccines is a CVS and yeah I don't have insurance. According to my order it's $190.

I'll probably keep looking around but I expect I'll meet the same issue wherever, I don't really have that kind of money atm

Patients are not supposed to need to prove that they do not have health insurance in order to get free shots from the program. However, uninsured Americans running into challenges can sometimes ask pharmacists to run their information in the system to show they have self-paid for prescriptions in the past.
