And this is still the response:

bsp77 posted...
I don't think you realize it but you are essentially saying, "Don't suggest something that didn't work for me despite the fact that others can assert that it worked for them." You are potentially blocking someone else from getting help. I am NOT saying it works for everyone.
You are being ridiculously self-centered and assuming your reaction is the same as everyone else's. I am admitting that not everyone responds the same way.

If YOU don't like the suggestion, then just say it "didn't work for me" and move on.

If it works for many people, then it inherently isn't bad. It would only be bad if insinuating that it would work for all.

And please do not assume to know what has or hasn't worked for my own anxieties, because I haven't shared that.
I shared my anxieties while you are coming across as someone easily offended. I can't communicate with people like you, as you will never be objective and also never be truly open either. That's a bad combination for communication.

I will not respond again. You can have the final word if it makes you feel better.

At least you aren't being "that guy" - lucky i gave the botd.

Yeah...it's not that simple, but countering some of my own conditioning. For someone who has a habit with cynical thoughts can't say I get where you are coming from all the way like some here, but i don't want to sour the thread about it. Wasn't out for a CE never ending debate with this one, and it seems...wrong to let this get out of hand. Better to agree to disagree.

Admittedly, he shouldn't have talked about arrogance.

Inappropriate on my part - even making an effort still say the wrong thing on touchy subjects, so gotta take that L.

I will not respond again. You can have the final word if it makes you feel better.

Sometimes that's for the best. You got better shit to do tonight i hear - don't waste time here, @bsp77

That's tomorrow night. My bachelor party! :)

@Asherlee10 I said I wouldn't respond and I am not going to argue, but I do want to say sorry if a couple of my comments went too far into seeming personal. I should be better than that.

Big man. Good luck, then, and don't do something you will regret.

I won't, at least nothing of a sexual nature. Hopefully I won't get too drunk and get in trouble for something stupid or disorderly. My goal is to have a nice buzz all night, and not reach the point of being drunk drunk, but that line can be a hard line to find.

Interesting take TC.

However, have you done much research on social anxiety?

A lot of folks with social anxiety do not have the delusion that everyone else is observing or talking about them.
For a lot of folks with social anxiety, their triggers are the size of the space, the sounds, lighting and amount of people in the space etc.

I feel like that scene of Alexis talking to David and trying to help him out with his driving test was a pretty big motivator for me to break through some of my own issues with social anxiety. It wasn't the only coping mechanism I relied on, but when I feel like I'm in a situation with other people and I feel my anxiety flaring up, I just think "nobody gives a shit" and that quiets my mind down quite a lot. It's something I employ quite a lot at work or at a social function.

My social anxiety has nothing to do with what I think people think about me. I just genuinely don't like being around people or talking to people. That's all. I also have no reason to correct my anxiety. I just accept it as who I am. It's much easier to just be anti-social and isolate myself than otherwise. The world has nothing to offer me. I am happy alone in my room.

I have no friends and I live with my parents. I don't socialize with anyone aside my parents.

Were you diagnosed with an anxiety disorder?

Researched when i got suspicious, experienced, and saw it from my little cousin. My M.O. for a mental health screening was an autism diagnosis, but depression, and social anxiety was noted in the results too. Didn't see the former coming.

...ever played "The world ends with you"? The main character neku has some of the same mentality.

I have that general reluctance to engage with people being a recluse, and have anxiety at the idea of adulting around people in public too. Just...never so bad when i get it over with.

Appreciated, but I was kind of a dick in how I worded things at a couple points. I always say these discussions would be better in person. At least they would for me.

And yeah, it will be super fun. It has me overly excited

that's horrible....Gotta be nerve wrecking.

It really is. It's not just that though. In a group of more then 3 or 4 people I panic. I'm constantly seating my self near exits. The one time I went to Disneyland I had 4 panic attacks in the first day.
