Apparently this came out months ago and Insomniac confirmed the character model is the same actress in both games but they changed the hairstyle in SM2. To me it looks like a completely different person.

The bone structure and nose seem the same. Eyebrows are shaped differently. And she let her hair down.

Let's also not forget that the last game was a PS4 game and this one was developed ground up on the PS5. Character generally see some visual changes when they change generations mid-series.

I mean, I personally like MJ being attractive.

But anyway, Pete should have dropped her for Felicia anyway. Way superior.

You can say I'm a loser, but you can't deny what is happening. It's not a conspiracy. It's not internet nerds preemptively being outraged. We said it would happen and it did. We knew it would because it's happened already. Because it's a clear and continuous pattern.

No, I don't need big breasts on a female character to find her interesting as a character. You don't need profanity and gratuitous bloodshed to have a good time at the movies. But if there's a PG-13 sequel or remake to an R-rated movie, people flip a table because they're being denied something they used to have. It's the same thing here.

If you go to favorite place to eat and find one day that they've stopped serving alcohol, you'd be within your rights to go someplace else even if the food is just as good as it always was.

Even if you don't care about fictional breasts (or real breasts on women playing fictional characters). Even if you're not into women period, it's still a bad thing to remove all buxom women from the media. You are saying that there is a certain type of person who you do not want to be featured in the media and it's through no fault of their own. This is like taking every story which had a Jewish character in it and replacing them with non-Jewish characters. You would be selectively removing a group of people from having any media presence or representation.
It's not just censorship. It's discrimination. How are women with large breasts supposed to feel in real life when they're not good enough to make it into movies? What does it say to them that body types and personality types are treated one and the same and that busty types are the "bimbo" types that we don't want? I suppose they can go out and get reductions if they want to be treated fairly.
Cover Tifa up more. Take away her midriff. Make it so that there's no bounce or jiggle -- just fat dead space. But don't flatten her because women with sizable breasts are somehow bad people according to the censors who think themselves progressive.
It's like there's an Anti-Tit League that gets to dictate who has an appropriate enough body type to achieve representation. And, according to them, women with small wastes and large busts are unworthy.

They do look a little different but relatively the same imo. Points for them at least not complaining about the first game's version. I still remember all the nerds crying about how she was ugly in that one too

I assume the face scan/animation technology just improved, and the SM2 version is closer to the actual model, since it's built from the ground up for PS5 vs. PS4. Both models have the exact same nose, so I fully believe it's the same actress.

I find it odd modernizing woman designs means making them more ugly. Is it because millennial woman are starting to hit the wall and feel fictional woman need to tone it down or are they just more sensitive?

We're a group of people who will sit for hours, days, even weeks on end performing some of the hardest, most mentally demanding tasks. Over, and over, and over all for nothing more than a little digital token saying we did.

We'll punish our selfs doing things others would consider torture, because we think it's fun.

We'll spend most if not all of our free time min maxing the stats of a fictional character all to draw out a single extra point of damage per second.

Many of us have made careers out of doing just these things: slogging through the grind, all day, the same quests over and over, hundreds of times to the point where we know evety little detail such that some have attained such gamer nirvana that they can literally play these games blindfolded.

Do these people have any idea how many controllers have been smashed, systems over heated, disks and carts destroyed 8n frustration? All to latter be referred to as bragging rights? These people honestly think this is a battle they can win? They take our media? We're already building a new one without them. They take our devs? Gamers aren't shy about throwing their money else where, or even making the games our selves. They think calling us racist, mysoginistic, rape apologists is going to change us? We've been called worse things by prepubescent 10 year olds with a shitty head set. They picked a fight against a group that's already grown desensitized to their strategies and methods. Who enjoy the battle of attrition they've threatened us with. Who take it as a challange when they tell us we no longer matter. Our obsession with proving we can after being told we can't is so deeply ingrained from years of dealing with big brothers/sisters and friends laughing at how pathetic we used to be that proving you people wrong has become a very real need; a honed reflex.

Gamers are competative, hard core, by nature. We love a challange. The worst thing you did in all of this was to challange us. You're not special, you're not original, you're not the first; this is just another boss fight.

More and more, if every single female character in a game doesn't turn certain people on, it's suddenly "woke" or whatever.

The closer a character is to their actor/actress, the worse they look in a screenshot vs. in motion.

This was true with the recent Mortal Kombat, for example. Based on screenshots, people screeched over how characters like Johnny and Tanya looked, but once the game came out and you could see them in motion, they all looked pretty good.

The higher fidelity these characters get the more odds there's gonna be pictures that aren't overly flattering. If you take pictures of people mid conversation instead of them posing for a photo it ain't all that different. Similar to real life I guess although probably amplified moreso with characters with in-depth facial animation.

Character models for the game itself look good IMO.

They aren't making women "uglier," is the thing. They're just making them more realistic, via basing them on actual face capture technology instead of just... Creating a perfect digital human.

You're the one deciding they're ugly, as they get more realistic instead of being noticeably digital.

Yes, video games are making use of overt sex appeal to sell their products less frequently. No, its not some big conspiracy. Its a whole lot of different people making the decision about how they want to make their own products, which they are perfectly entitled to do and then people like you whining about it. Not everything has you as the target audience, which means that not everybody cares what kind of content you like.

Most of this whining is focused on first party PlayStation games who specifically aim for realistic and cinematic art styles. People reward this choice by buying their games because they like the decisions they have made.

MK1 Tanya looks absolutely fine in motion, which is why the complaints pretty much ceased once the game actually came out. People tried to make a thing out of it based on one screenshot of a mid-motion scene, and they did so pretty much entirely based on racism, since they're mad MK1 Tanya looks more blatantly black than a few past iterations had. So, yes, you are helping those people out, and you should strive to do better.
