Current Events > Rewatch gundam 0079 series or movies?

I've seen them before and I know there's a movie trilogy but should I just watch the series again or are the movies a good substitution?

I don't consider the movies a good substitute because they cut out a lot of things that are important and brought up later in other series and shows. For example in Gundam Build Fighters Try a supporting characters mobile suit is one only found in Gundam TV; and she's the best character! lol

The movies cut out a lot, like 15+ hours of content. But if you've seen the show already it'll be fine if you don't want to watch it all again.

Movies. The stuff the cut isn't vital for either enjoyment or understanding what's going on and I wouldn't say 0079 is worth the time investment to spend on the whole thing.

The Gyan isn't worth it?! But what about Gyanko in Build Fighters Try!

Since you've seen the show already you can try the movies out. For me I'd rather rewatch the series again. There's a bit more character moments/development.

The Gyan is awesome. Underrated mobile suit. The fight between Amuro and M'quve is neat too. I think it's cut from the movies if I remember right.

I hear there was some differences in the movies as well. I do plan to go watch Zeta afterwards so maybe I should stick to the t.v. series.

It's been a very long time since I've seen them, but I think nothing is really changed, but more cut. The movies are basically the main beats of the show. I don't think you'd necessarily miss anything for your eventual Zeta watch, but I could be wrong. The show is just so fun though, but I'm extremely biased to be truthful. The dub is better too if dubs are your preference.

I love the dub and only sad that zz doesn't have one. I will probably watch the dub even though I don't normally watch dubbed anime. Gundam always has excellent dub cast tho

People rag on it, but I thought the dub was fine. It's a bit cheesy, but I think it had the right amount of it. The Zeta dub was done by a different studio/cast, which was a bit of a disappointment to me, but it's still good and fits with first series. They sound like older versions of those characters so it works. ZZ not having one kinda sucks too, but that's a very minor complaint.

I just really enjoy Char's voice actor and he was a big thing for me when it comes to the original. Probably one of my favorite anime characters of all time. The dub voice acting was great to me.

Michael Kopsa as Char was fantastic. I think the VA for him in Zeta does a fine job as well doing an older, more mature Char. The VA crew from the original series dub does come back in Char's Counterattack, which is neat. I really liked Ramba Ral's actor too. I also like the dub's choice in making the Black Tri Stars into southerners. I think I like them more because of it. They sound straight redneck-ish.

And yeah, Char is one of the GOAT anime characters.
