Hamas official says group is open to discussions over truce with Israel

Oct 9 (Reuters) - A senior Hamas official said the group is open to discussions over a possible truce with Israel, having "achieved its targets."

Moussa Abu Marzouk told Al Jazeera in a phone interview that Hamas was open to "something of that sort" and "all political dialogues" when asked whether the Islamist group is willing to discuss a possible ceasefire.

I find the situation confusing. The State of Palestine contains the West Bank and Gaza (probably among others), and the territory is considered Israel-occupied, but doesnt Palestine have its own government? And Hamas has a majority in it?

The British mandate of Palestine included the west bank of the Jordan river (ie: Israel and the PA) AND the east bank of the Jordan river... ie: Jordan.

And in 1921, Britain gave control the east bank to the Hashemite dynasty (I think it was compensation for their support of Britain during WW1?). Then, in 1946, Jordan declared itself independent... and no longer part of the British mandate.

That's because nothing and I mean NOTHING Israel does is ever considered a terror attack. Every single action they take, whether it be blowing up schools, murdering journalists, blowing up hospitals, building new settlements in areas that belong to Palestinians, stealing their houses, gunning down their children, all of it is considered "self-defense."
