The GOP have a lot of fundamentalist constituents who literally interpret this as part of a holy war/end times prophecy.

They already see Palestinians as subhuman, and the media have helped to conflate Hamas with all Palestinians. Extermination rhetoric is not even new here.

It'd certainly be far passed the line if it's genocide.

There is a very big difference between "leave Hamas alone(something nobody has argued)" and "no (civilian)cost is too high to make sure you get rid of Hamas."

Anyone taking offense to the latter being called out needs to tell us how many civilians they would be willing to sacrifice.

Sure let me write up a 5000 page anti-terrorism strategy on a video game message board.

So we can all agree that genocide is bad, and Mark Rubio is untrustworthy, but none of us seem to have any ideas of how to approach this war.

I think it's rather telling that the person demanding solutions only cares about protecting Israeli civilians and clearly doesn't care how many civilians die so long as Hamas is gotten rid of.

And rather telling that the person trying to act like anybody is arguing "leave Hamas alone" is also trying to demand solutions better than unchecked civilian death as a solution.

Strawman. I care about both Israeli and Palestinian civilians. But in this current conflict, the Hamas are the aggressors. Obviously that doesn't mean Palestinian civilians should be touched. The Hamas terrorists though, must be destroyed. Negotiating with terrorists only leads to more terrorism.

I don't think there is much use in debating the finer points of military tactics is very useful, unless you understand them.

This is indeed the same kind of propaganda that got us in an impossible situation trying to fight two wars at one time. But let's not act like we shouldn't fight bad people because other bad people will just take their place.

You can argue that it's not our conflict, but you can't realistically argue that we should just let evil have its way because there will always be a replacement. There will always be people vying for power. Not all of them are equal in their threat to the world or to individual ethnic groups. When Nazi Germany was defeated, nobody took their place as the government actively trying to exterminate Jews from the world.

Intelligence based directives to arrest and break up Hamas rather than more civilian bombings, and a proposal to end the open air prison system in the Palestinian territories.
