I hear this argument all the time, and not just on the internet. I hear it from my conservative family and friends I had back in high school.

But if they just thought about it for one minute they would realize how absurd that argument is. If that were true, a tourist from Canada could be detained indefinitely without trial for no reason at all, tortured, and even sold into slavery since the 13th amendment wouldnt apply to them.
