Leeches are attracted to garlic.
Leeches were released and timed to see which arm they locked onto quicker. Results showed leeches attached to the garlic arm in 14 seconds. They dillydallied for 44.9 seconds before latching onto the clean arm to feed. This goes against everything we've heard about vampires avoiding garlic.

An electric vehicle held the vehicular land speed record in 1900. Andrew L Riker managed to achieve a speed of 46,47km/h, thereby beating his petrol counterparts. The first crude electric cars were vying for market share with horses and buggies from 1828 until well into the 1920s. Thomas Edison himself took an interest in early electric car batteries. While only one out of every 250 cars are powered by electricity today, in 1900 38% of cars on the road were electric, while 40% were powered by steam.

7-11 facts:

  • The store was named "Tote'm Stores", because customers "toted" away their purchases.
  • in 1946, the store's name changed to reflect their extended hours of 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • The letter N in the logo is lower case because the wife of the company's president in the 1960's thought that all caps seemed "aggressive" lol

Not 7-11 related: The "S" in Ulysses S. Grant didn't stand for anything. And his name was actually Hiram Ulysses Grant.

Transparent aluminum, which was a fictional material in Star Trek IV, is now a real thing. It's a see-through material that's three times harder than steel. Right now it's very expensive to make so it's limited mostly to defense applications, like making bulletproof glass that's thinner and stronger than traditional bulletproof glass, but eventually the cost may come down enough for it to be used in consumer products.

Re-used movie props time?
The Ghostbusters PKE Meter was also used in They Live and Suburban Commando.

Director Sam Raimi owns an 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 that he tries to include in all his movies. It appears in The Evil Dead (1982), Crimewave (1985), Evil Dead 2 (1987), Darkman (1990), Army Of Darkness (1993), The Quick And The Dead (1995), A Simple Plan (1998), For Love Of The Game (1999), The Gift (2000), Spider-Man Trilogy (2002, 2004, 2007), and Drag Me to Hell (2009).

Mel Brooks used the same lab equipment props used in Frankenstein (1931) in his Young Frankenstein (1974).

The Golden Idol, which was famously replaced with a bag of sand by Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), can also be seen during the in-film Indiana Jones parody "Sand Pirates of the Sahara" in The Majestic (2001).

The Spinner, the flying police car in Bladerunner (1982) also appears re-colored in Back to the Future Part II (1989).

The California license plate "2GAT123" is specially reserved for productions in order to avoid confusion from using a real person's plate identification, and can be seen in movies like Beverly Hills Cop II (1987), When a Man Loves a Woman (1994), Pay it Forward (2000), Mulholland Drive (2001), Training Day (2001), Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), Role Models (2008), and more.

The Harrier Jet used in that scene in True Lies (1994) also appeared in the Thor and Hulk fighting scene in The Avengers.

Remember Mr. Fusion in Back to the Future Part II (1989)?
It first appears in the spaceship in Alien (1979).

Here is one for everyone that they do not tell you about in time travel movies and that is that time travel will kill your ass faster.

Every living organism on Earth is governed by the Circadian Rhythm your internal 24 hour body clock. It is that body clock that regulates your functions i.e tell you when to slerep eat or whatever and is the reason you age.

Now if you could time travel and say you went and spent 6 months in the future and came back to the present time you would have still aged those 6 months as there is not a force in the universe that can change or halt the aging process meaning that every time travel trip you took will kill you faster.

To go along with that but it is now generally taken that Jesus was born in around March/April not December.

There are clues in The Bible regarding when Jesus was born. For instance Shepards watched their flocks by night. Well you do not do that in late Autumn/early Winter. Also it is taken that the shepards did that because it was Lambing season which only happens in the Spring.

The reason why December 25th was chosen to celebrate Jesus birth was because in December the Pagans/Romans had their festivities like Saturnalia and the celebrating of the Winter Solstice so the Christians/Catholics were feeling left out so they decided to make December 25th Jesus birthday so they to could join in the festivities.
