Takes longer. Need to uphold good grades to transfer whereas getting into a 4 year program can be good for slackers

Going to same program and knowing same ppl for 4yr to establish relationships

There will be employers out there that deem this as "lesser". May not be the truth, but they're the ones with the contracts.

There aren't. Outside of the stigma community colleges can have, you can get a quality degree at a community college with courses that rival the four year institutions in rigor (source: I work at a community college).

A good student will be a good student at any school they attend, same with a bad student. Get your associates, transfer to a 4-year institution, and get a bachelor's at less than half the cost.

I do want to mention this as a plus for a four year institution. If your intention is to get involved in college and one day be student government president or other leadership position, then having the relationships built over 4 years gives you an advantage.

If you don't care about that, then it's a moot point.

It seems like a better option to me. You secure a smaller degree before going for the big one.

Lots of students did that at my college 15 years ago. It was a good idea then, and is still a good idea now. If my college wouldn't have been already paid for, I would have done that.
