I'm at the part where I can take on the final boss, but now that I can fly there are some other places I could go check out.

Are they interesting narratively? Or is it just loot? If there is cool narrative I will go explore, but if not I'm just excited to see the ending.

Other then story bit collecting all the seashells unlocks, the areas themselves just have interesting puzzles to unlock the two ultimate weapons, loot, and a hidden boss.

Yeah, Kai Laguna pretty well summed it all up. If you don't care about achievements/trophies or ultimate weapons, not a big reason exists to do them.

I think I got one of the ultimate weapons. I did the Queen cause that was close by. Lol

There is a very valid reason to do the side things that unlock, though it's fine to save it for post game. You can ignore Wheels, though.

Big Spoilers: Doing the optional bosses and seashell collecting let's you go for the true/full ending, with a different final boss and everything.

I did all the Solstice Shrines and the uh Doccari ones? Is that how it is spelled?

So I think all I have left from the major sidequests is the fighting arena? LOL
