While waiting for my $200 mechanical keyboard with aloe linear switches to ship, I've been thinking of ways to optimize the layout. This is my first draft

Q probably should be bottom row. It is rarely used, so its spot should be given to a common bottom row key.

Q and Z are among the few keys I think qwerty gets right. It's better for Q to be top left because the pinkies suck and diagonaling is less efficient. I use my ring finger to hit it. A common key there would be not great.

Since seemingly you have been working with a "normal" layout for a while, would changing to anything else be helpful in the long run. since when we type we are using muscle memory ?

I've had bad finger and wrist pain lately

QWERTY is a holdover from ancient tech limitations and I want to modernize

I think I should swap the K and P to make typing oppai not be mostly the right hand

I ran it through a layout analyzer and it has really bad same finger bigrams

Back to the drawing board I guess

The most efficient typing alternates between left and right hand, and this layout doesn't do that well.

For example, consider the phrase:

FOREVER ALONE
RLLLLLL RLLLL

Worse still, you will be using the same finger often for repeated words. Deeply inefficient.

Here's my new idea. I based it on the Soul layout

That doesn't seem awful off the bat, save for the obvious fact that you'll be training yourself on a keyboard that is out of sync with every other keyboard in the world, but that's a mark of distinction for some.

Almost as good as DVORAK and SOUL (a better COLEMAK for the way I type)

Realistically SOUL is probably worth actually learning(it's great at everything), but mine isn't so bad, especially when it's used in C# coding. Being so close to a machine-generated optimal layout (MTGAP) in their coding example is pretty crazy.

But for meme sake I'm going to trust in my Oshi and go with my own layout.
