I like that his Fatalities and Xray are pulled from the show... Like the Xray being when he just punches the shit out of Mark...

Fatalities look insane.
Wonder what they're going to do with Homelander.

He looks.. unbelievably boring. Outside of his special moves being references to the show, all they really showed off is a couple of standing punch strings, a command grab, and some kind of ranged parry.

Does he not have a projectile move?

Laser eyes or such doesn't seem to be part of his power set, so he's mostly close-quarters combat.

In terms of his potential...I'd probably wait to see what players can do with him. The trailers for this game seem to undersell what the characters can do a lot of times.

I guess if they were to give him a projectile move, it'd probably be like picking up something like a rock and chucking it... Kind of glad Viltrumites don't have lasers since it'd be overkill when Homelander is added since I'm guessing they'll do quite a bit with his lasers...

Yeah, Homelander's probably gonna have projectiles for sure. Just hope it's not as bad as Injustice 2, lol.

What probably helps is Simmons has actually done many voice over roles prior to Omni Man. I don't think Megan Fox has ever done any voice over roles prior to Nitara. She's not even a good actress in live action stuff.

This is only a first look. This trailer looks like it's only going for fanservice. The only other unique thing they showed was his Noob Saibot parry. We will see when they eventually do a character breakdown for him.

Him and Homelander are bargain bin Supermans. Their klaim to fame are their stories and personalities, not their actual skillset, but that's ok.

Nothing wrong with it, it's just the MK1 trailers generally just seem to show first looks at fatalities, fatal blows, a couple of moveset gimmicks, and that's about it. The true potential of characters isn't really seen until players get their hands on them.

If they decide to address it, they'll probably have the blindfold fall away at some point. If not, they'll probably just... Have it happen anyway, deal with the like, three days of backlash, and then move on.

I never understood why they show their fatalities and fatal blows in the trailers. Its a hell of a spoiler. I understand showing a few to generate hype, but they do it for all characters

Someone could ask the same about Stryker being able to blind Kenshi with his flashlight and Kratos being able to turn Kenshi to stone with Medusa's head in MK9.

its not like MK is known for being logical. The nut punch from Cage and its X-ray version deliver as much damage to male characters as female ones lol

Fatal Blow should have been the Subway scene.
Head crush should be a brutality.
Fatality one should be "Think Mark!"
Fatality two should have been the Flaxan leader kill.

They have plenty of material for brutalities, c'mon now.

Even some of the basic/special moves are lifted from the show, like the air command grab, the same way he killed Darkwing, and the spine-crush, when he killed Donald.

I am not sure how they can differentiate those 2 gameplay wise, though. Theyre basically wish.com Superman

People always say this, just like how they were concerned about how they didn't think NRS could differentiate Batgirl's play style from Batman in Injustice 1 before her release. Or Zod from Superman. Or Supergirl from Superman.

Point is, they're really good at making characters who seem like they have similar skill sets play entirely different. Just judging by this trailer, Omni-Man seems like a straight bruiser compared to Superman.
If I had to guess on Homelander, his play style is probably going to be based more on zoning/his projectile/playing keep away.

I'd probably be a rich man if I had a dollar for every time I read a post claiming that a character would play just like another and then that character's gameplay is revealed and they're shown to have a different playstyle. It was the same with Green Lantern & Sinestro and Shazam & Black Adam. I even recall people saying that Black Manta would play like Aquaman. If I had to guess, this was because they saw a picture of the former holding a trident somewhere and from that assumed that he and the latter had similar powers.

And while this wasn't someone saying a character would play like another, when Joker was leaked for MK11, there was one person or two saying that he'd just have his Injustice moveset. And when he was revealed, he's shown to have a completely different moveset. Though I think he should have had the joy buzzer at least. It was a missed opportunity to not include it as it could have been used as a brutality with a reference to the 1989 Batman movie.

Even in the era of Ninja's just being re-skins just with different colors, they at least played differently and uniquely. Yes there are a lot of stuff NRS still needs to work on, like projectiles collisions and the fight animations still looking wonky at times, and janky movement and controls, but each character having their own unique playstyle is one of NRS strengths. I wouldn't be surprised if Omniman is the rushdown/grappler while Homelander is the zoner, my issue with the trailer is that Omniman movesets just looks so plain...which I guess can't be helped since they're trying to be as loyal to its source material as possible (and all he really does is punch and fly around).

Yeah, it can be a little annoying at this point since NRS has more than proven to be conscious about making seemingly similar characters with their own unique play styles. And yet, you still see people saying with full confidence that Homelander is just going to be a re-skinned Superman with his moveset ripped straight from Injustice, which seems like a silly assumption to make, imo.

I've never watched The Boys, so I don't exactly know how he fights in that show. But I do know he's suppose to be the Superman expy and his eye lasers are a big part of his character. There's so much they could play around with that alone to make him an entirely unique character from Injustice's Superman.
