I'd rather be sore in the lower body. Once you warm up it kinda goes away. Upper body soreness is shit

See I'm the opposite, unless you mean hard=not fun. I find the legs easiest to develop.. And yes, that also includes calves. Obviously genetics play a role, that's true for any muscle size, but a killer leg days where your DOMS last an extra day or two are the best days. Because you know that next leg day next week you are hitting even more weight.

People need to lean into the comfortability of it all, not run away from it. The soreness of walking around all day, you just get used to it. lol

I fucking love leg day. Having my quads and ass all nice a tight. Nothing better.

Leg workouts are 10x as exhausting and hard as anything else. The days after always feel horrible too. It's got a high barrier of entry in not feeling like complete garbage that demotivates you.

They really aren't. You can get gains faster on legs than arms and chest. You don't need to do half a dozen different leg exercises. Squats alone will give you big and strong legs.

All the women gym regulars I know work on upper body too. They just can't do nearly as much in weight as guys. It's more of an even playing field with legs. A lot of girls out there don't want to get big, so they tend to use less weight also for that reason.

Are people really taking TC's advice personally? He's blunt, but he isn't attacking anyone. And he is not wrong. It's better to work out everything and look good proportionally.

There's nothing wrong with a stronger lower body. Helps with explosiveness speed, reduce severity of injuries (such as falls or back strains), builds bone mass, boosts your metabolism and insulin sensitivity after a work out, and it looks good.

Also, for the people who hate leg exercises because it takes a lot out of them.. Do some cardio like running/jogging/elliptical. It will help tremendously with your cardiovascular health (you won't be huffing and puffing) and you recover faster between sets a lot faster too.

The best thing about legs is that if you don't care much about them, you can do like 2 exercises on leg day and it's good enough to keep them mildly proportional to the rest of your body. So leg day workouts can be super short and you can move on with your day

I have ridiculous calves from being morbidly obese for most of my life, though one is larger than the other because of bone defects in my legs affecting my gait. My quads and glutes aren't too shabby either.

I pretty much don't even do leg workouts anymore because I can't stand to see any of it with a pump, especially my ass, and I don't need them to be any bigger or more toned anyway. They also have not gotten much smaller as I've lost substantial amounts of weight, so I think I might be stuck with them unless I end up immobile or something.

I won't go so far as to say I want them to shrink but it's upsetting because I have a very underdeveloped upper body and building muscle there is as difficult as building lower body is easy. I've read that it's good to take advantage of muscles that grow easily because it produces hormones that the whole body can use but that didn't pan out and I was even more out of proportion. Finding it very hard to win here.

I found that losing weight in the legs and ass is super easy.

I started walking about 13 miles a day for 2 years and now i have lil birdy legs.

Combine that with some lifting and the limbs even out pretty good.

Lunges are also good to do if you are focusing on a split routine. I also recommend deadlifts for back and legs.

If you haven't done legs at all or in a while, they will be sore as heck in the first week, but will subside after.

That's not what I mean. Legs are psychologically hard to push and most people hate to properly squat. And if you do it properly enjoy having wobbly legs on your way home.

I say this as someone who loved to squat and who's legs are getting so big that regular fit jeans are becoming an issue. I pride myself on my legs, but these are my observations from watching other people train. Its 100% effort on bench and 60% effort on squats.

Correction, they just train their butts. The vast majority of women I see are only ever doing weighted hip thrusters and the adduction and abduction machines. Rarely do I see them doing anything else.
