Sushi!

Just depends on my mood

Depends on the restaurant type. There's a lot of Japanese food I haven't had a chance to try but most Japanese places are just sushi.

They're both even imo. Whether it's Thai, Chinese or Japanese, deoxxys is excited.

Chinese, but mainly because I've seen more Chinese restaurants that have both Chinese and Japanese style food than in reverse.

I've been to several Chinese restaurants that also served stuff like sushi, but most Japanese restaurants I've been to have primarily served... Pretty much only sushi/related dishes.

The best part of a Chinese restaurant is the oolong tea, and I buy that by itself in pound bags now.

Ironically it's more popular in Japan than China to the point that Chinese vending machines often sell bottled Japanese Oolong tea.

As for the topic in Japan a cheap Japanese place is better than a cheap Chinese place, but expensive Chinese food here is really good. In China Japanese food is rare and not worth the price. In America cheap Chinese food is way better than cheap Japanese food (which is usually not even made by Japanese people). High end Japanese in America can be good though.

Again, I recommend finding a good Thai place over either.
When it's so spicy that you can feel the heat on the back of your eardrums, it's almost hot enough.

I dont. I like my food cooked. And Ive had fried and cooked stuff, its decent for a bite but thats about it.

What kind of Chinese food are we talking about here? Americanized or authentic?

Go to a Japanese place where a Japanese guy makes a volcano out of an onion on a hibachi grill, and I'm guessing that's close enough to "authentic".
If not, that guy sure does seem to have a lot of fun doing it.

I've been to both 'authentic' Chinese and Japanese restaurants (not sushi places, I mean places that sell bowls of noodles, rice bowls, tempura and the like) and I prefer Japanese.

The problem with Chinese restaurants is most of the ones worth going to are expensive family meal type places so there's no reason to go to them a lot of the time. I'm not particularly fond of dim sum so I don't go to those places, either.

There is no singular "Chinese food" though. The ones with dim sim are Cantonese restaurants. Northern Chinese food is rather distinct, such as Peking Duck and black bean noodles.

What's so wrong about it? I'm a huge fan of cream cheese in my rolls. I eat like anything though

Me. The only seafood I like are crab, lobster, scallops and shrimp. I would never eat these raw.

A good summary of the two is to look at an old propaganda anime: The Gourmet. In it they do such wild things as defend the slaughter of endangered species' (like, literally a couple of years after the show aired the particular whale species basically was eaten to extinction... illegally, of course), call all western food trash, etc. All with the express goal of creating the "ultimate full course meal"... something that is just as pretentious as it sounds.

Despite its never ending masturbation to Japanese, well, everything it immediately goes out of its way to point out how much better Chinese is than Japanese. Even the most wild of Japanese food propaganda cannot fathom the idea that Chinese is worse, who am I to argue against their take?

You can get it at most sushi restaurants in Japan. It isn't unusual at all.

Haven't been to either unless you count "Chinese" food. They always gave me way too much food though, really crammed it in the countainer.

It quite literally did. I explicitly looked it up out of curiosity after seeing the episode.

Unless you are talking about the illegal bit. Then it is a bit more complicated: it was illegal, but the Japanese government didn't persecute. Thus it was illegal in the same way that jay walking is illegal. Just, you know, with the near extinction of a species of whales instead crossing the road unsafely.

Most Japanese food is too bland for me.

Chinese. I don't like the vast majority of Japanese food I've tried.

Japanese. I don't really care for seafood so most sushi is out, but there's plenty of other stuff I like. Mainly ramen and katsu. Like there was one place in Japan where you cook your own katsu on a stone over a flame. That was quite the experience, and boy was it delicious :3

Japanese. I go to Mitsuwa marketplace twice a year to stock up on my Japanese cooking essentials and always struggle to figure out what I want to eat at the food court there.

Well Japanese people consider those Chinese food (raamen, gyouza, and chaahan are attempts at the Chinese pronunciations), so that's more of an overseas thing.

Literally no one in my mainland Chinese in-law family thinks those nonsense stereotypes you wrote.

Japanese. I love sushi. I have a few near me that are just Japanese but most places around me are Asian fusion (Chinese-Japanese-Thai).

I lean Chinese on this. I'm not a big fan of sushi, but I love spicy food. I give the edge to Chinese restaurants but my main pick is always Thai or Vietnamese.

I would prefer a chineese place to a sushi place.... but I would choose a good ramen place over almost any restaurant

I enjoy both. How do you expect me to pick?!?!
