There's no way the MAGAts would go for Cheney. I suspect that this is more so that the Dems can say "we even said we would vote for a Republican!" next time the right pull out their ludicrous argument that it's the Dems fault that they're all fucking mental.

It would be a smart "poison pill" tactic.

Yeah, Republicans are so dysfunctional now that Dems can say they'd vote for Trump Republican, (let's face, Liz Cheney as well as Adam Killzinger were/are Trump Republicans no matter what they say, their voting records prove they are) and not have that bluff be called because Trump himself runs the party and absolutely will rally his forces against Liz Cheney.

It's honestly a strange place Republicans are in right now, they can't win. If they put a MAGA head up there it will piss off independents and centralists even more not to mention the maga head will definitely shut down the government on Trump's behalf then blame the aftermath on Democrats and Biden constantly even after it's shown poll wise it's not working. If they put a "moderate" republican up there which are basically MAGA without the open display of ignorance and open contempt for others, they'll piss off the MAGAs they need to win their elections as a "moderate" speaker will still be forced to adhere to MAGA because they still need MAGA votes to win the gravel especially because whichever moderate they nominate will absolutely be some form of scumbag Democrats not only won't support but can't support least they end up getting primary'd by their voters. Look at who they put up already, a proud white christian nationalist who compared himself to David Duke the former leader of the Ku Klux Clan and a proven scumbag who looked the other way when kids were being molested for the sake of his own ambitions and engaged in trying to drag those who spoke out about the incident through the mud and then there's of course his ongoing ignoring of a subpoena, oh and both of them are election denying dick heads who refuse to admit the last election was not in fact stolen from Donald Trump.

If this goes on any longer the government will shutdown in November yet I don't see a way out unless Republicans in the house who fear for their reelections in Biden districts bit the bullet and support Democrats for Jefferies because they are all in lockstep for him and hopefully won't break.

Yet at the same time there are morals, Republicans have none, they'll gladly let those in biden districts drown if they can shut the government down for a while and hope it hurts Biden himself as they don't give a damn about causing suffering to people, meanwhile Democrats have empathy and may actually cave to allow whatever scumbag speaker they put up to get in even if it means they pay for it in their elections because the government needs to be open for certain people to get their paychecks.

What's likely worse about that is the media will absolutely not paint it as Dems doing it for the sake of the people but Dems being weak, Dems being spineless, Dems being cowards, I don't mean all media either I'm absolutely sure Progressive media in particular will be pissed at Dem for caving some may even understand why but still be mad because they think Dems didn't fight hard enough.

Oh and of course Republicans will go on Fox News and Newsmax, their own podcasts and do the things they do, claim victory and maybe even be angry about whichever speaker they get because they either weren't racist enough, Trumpy enough, or saving enough conspiracy bullshit on TV for them or even force the shutdown to continue long enough. It truly is a party of chaos

A proven Never Trumper as Speaker would be a massive upgrade for sure.

Your right I do not know if they are credible our not. The last tweet in their chain said 6 rep and 6 dem representatives told them this. So it is at least being talked about if they are a reputable source.
