I was wondering I keep getting pop up saying I am not allowed to use Ad Blocker on Youtube, but I am able to watch videos. I was wondering are there are risk to using Ad Blockers?

I prefer to use Ad Blocker, so I don't see fake mobile phone games and people losing in those ads. If they support frauds, why should I support ads.

That was just a warning. You'll get three more before it starts to outright stop video playback until you disable your adblocker. There are even reports of people's Google accounts being completely banned as a result, which would be a huge catastrophe for people who use Gmail and have a lot of stuff connected to it.

uBlock Origin in Firefox has ways to get around it, though.

So if I continue using Ad Blocker I run the risk of getting banned, that is terrible. I guess I better stop using it on Youtube.

I will check into uBlock.

Hol up bruther, this is pretty serious shit now so can you clarify or share a confirmed story about this?

It is really bad people that user Youtube account can get banned, just for using Ad Blockers, but Mobile Phone that advertise fake gameplay and people losing on purpose nothing happens.

Why does Mobile phone game publisher get a free pass to lie as much as possible. Countless people complain and report it, but nothing happens. They just get away with it.

I'd be inclined to accept ads on youtube if they weren't so damn excessive

1 minute 34 second unskippable adds. 2 back to back 30 second ads on a 14 second video.

It's bonkers. It's become as bad as the dodgy sites.

Im starting to get nervous reading this shit.

How many of you are actually getting hit with this? I haven't seen a single thing and wouldn't have heard about it otherwise.

I technically have ABP AND ublock installed. I just never got rid of ABP.

They gotta give you some kind of warning before deleting your account right? That would be fucking insane.

my blockers work still and i havent been warned by any youtube popup

I previously saw comments on the YouTube subreddit, but after doing another quick search I'm also seeing comments of the contrary, that it only blocks video playback completely, not ban your Google account.

This damn near gave me a panic attack, since practically all my accounts on the web are connected to my Gmail, and I use a Chromebook. I'd be completely fucked if this happened to me. Can someone confirm this has happened, and if they give you a warning before doing it?

Id really like to know this too

Also, I use Chrome. Doesnt fucking google own youtube and chrome? So how the hell can ABP an extension they allow be against their TOS? Makes no sense.

ublock is actively fighting them. avoid chrome, use no other blocker but ublock. occasionally youtube does something that seems to catch it, but you just need to clear its cache or whatever and itll continue to work fine

If possible get Firefox with Ublock origin (clear cache and update filters if not working right) and Privacy badger. Works on desktop and mobile.

Third party wrappers like invidious,Freetube, libretube, YouTube-Dlp+mpv.

but if you update your filters , clear cache and cookies , and add the custom YouTube Adblock from GitHub it should work.

Don't listen to the fear mongers. I'm using firefox with Ublock Origin. The worst I've gotten was the pop up saying add blockers are not allowed on youtube and then I wait for the 3 second timer to close it and watch anyway. But you can get around those.

https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/176ludf/permanent_fix_for_youtube_ads_adblocker/

https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/comments/173jmog/youtube_antiadblock_and_ads_october_09_2023/

You might still have to clear your cache once a day like it shows in the one for privacy badger.
