I like out of 5 because it's simpler. Plus if you use half stars (or whatever) then it's equivalent to 10.

I refer letter grades. We all know the /10 scale is really just 0, 5-10. I blame the education system

used to prefer /10, but honest in that format you never really use 1-5 so /5 is superior

Scales out of 4 are the best. It encourages there to be less middling and thus a firm and convicted verdict. Note that half numbers are possible on this scale, such as 3.5/4

I preferred 10 I think all these years, but the more I think about maybe 5 is better that way something that is a 2.5/5 isn't outright garbage to most ppl. It is al perception though.

I just felt like 10 gave more room for some nuance but that doesn't exist anymore it seems.

5 point scale is best with half points being okay if you really need more granularity.

With a 10 point scale, people treat it like grades in school and the entire bottom half of the scale ends up meaning the same thing. So if you're going to do that it's better just to use letter grades instead.

5 for me, with no decimals/half points. Just straight to the point.

it's not as if decimals aren't used in 10 scales, 10 scales are just 100 scales in a 10 jacket, and 5 is a 10 in a 5 jacket.

Im done with point scales. Thumbs up or thumbs down, no need to get more specific than that.

When it comes down to it, it is all a matter of perception but a 3/5 does look better than a 6/10. This is why I decide now I prefer the 5 scale. Damn you, youtube! You got rid of the ironclad perfect 5 star system for like or dislike and then hid dislikes!!!!! (They did this because people only picked 1 or 5 mostly anyway I bet).

They're both functionally the same, as 0-5 on a 10 point scale generally means the same thing: Avoid.

Therefore, 5 point scales allow a larger range of actually meaningful values.

5 scales are better. With 10 scales, some people treat 5 as average while others treat 7 as average. With 5 scales, 3 is always average.
