This happened in my state. I remember after it happened the Chief came out and basically said a bunch of mistakes were made and they could use this as a training video for what not to do.

Absolutely shocked this ended without the suspect having 20 bullets in him.

I can't listen to audio right now and can only read the text on screen.

What was the original traffic stop for? I'm honestly skeptical of traffic stops that people think require this level of... policing?

The warrant was for forgery. The cop is just making the situation more dangerous. Unless the guy did something violent and was considered a danger to society, it's not worth it.

Obviously that was improper action, not how he was trained, and for something like forgery a hugely needless escalation, however he didn't execute the civilian, so I give him credit for that.

Hopefully the driver got a few decades behind bars for that.

It says 5 years and he chose to cling to that car which is not their training.

Given that George Floyd was executed for a forgery (counterfeiting?) allegation, and that a pregnant woman of color was executed when a cop put himself in front of a barely-moving car...

...I'm just as surprised as Umbreon that this ended without the suspect being shot.

It's a bad day when "cop not executing someone" is the threshold we have to cross and "give credit" for.

Indeed it is. The entire video I was honestly expecting it to end with him shooting the driver to death. Was legitimately surprised when he threw the cop off and got away.

And look at that, they still eventually got him in the end.

It's almost as if instead of escalating these sorts of incidents that often lead to executions of civilians, cops can just let these people go and track them down to arrest later, when it's much safer and everybody can walk away from it.

I know you're not one of the people I'm addressing, it's just astonishing how many people I see justify police on the spot executions of civilians because "then they'll get away" and it's like Ok...so just get them later? They act like the only options are arresting or executing the person on the spot.

Why cannot people just listen to what a police officer tells you to do?

Loaded question, but basic answer is because we have free will and live in a nation where our police have a penchant for executing civilians, so avoiding police interaction increases your chances for survival.

Also it's pretty natural to want to get away from people who are pointing guns at you.

You can. Depending on the cop and your skin color, this is more likely to get you killed than fucking bolting.
