The church I went to as a kid had what they called "Judgement House," which was sort of an existential religious horror thing. I never went to it, but I've heard they basically treat you as if you've recently died and are waiting in Purgatory to find out if you're going to Heaven or Hell. I know it goes on for a while, and I guess they present some depictions of the things you did when you were alive. Finally, it ends with you meeting Saint Peter in the stairwell, where he either motions for you to go up to Heaven, or down to Hell. I know they often split up people during this part.

Anyways, like I said, I've never been. But people who have tell me that it's pretty intense.

Went one of these a few times as a teenager and yeah they were intense. Went with a group and it made a couple of my friends cry.

In the video I posted she brings up the play "Heaven's Gates, Hell's Flames" which is something I *did* see as a kid, which is pretty similar to what you described.
i.e. there are various scenarios in which people die (usually car accidents) and afterwards they find out if they get sent to Heaven or Hell for whatever reasons.

Most fucked up scene I recall is the mom who was driving her kid to Sunday School, they die, the mom gets thrown in Hell, while the traumatized kid gets her mind wiped so she forgets her mom is now burning in eternal torment.

Like, what the actual fuck?

I was brought up Methodist and our church would decorate the basement to make it look like a haunted house but do it in a kid friendly way. Even though I'm no longer a Christian I still think that was pretty cool.

No, but I did go to an alternative to Halloween parties at churches, though. They weren't meant to scare you, just give kids an alternative way to have fun and get candy besides trick or treating.

Still weird since this was a Christian anti-Halloween thing, but it was at least fun.
