I finally stopped Kakarot, hands down the best dbz game ever. Just now finished the single player on FighterZ, that was awesome. What a good fighting game really makes you feel badass.
Afaik TB3 on ps2 was the best fighting game one, the fanservice was awesome. I think I missed all these 360 ones apparently, raging blast 2 is okay but theres like 10 more. What should I play?

I loved Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure, but it's more of an adventure game, and it's based on OG Dragon Ball. >_> There's a Super Dragon Ball Z on PS2, but I can't remember much about it. I think I was disappointed with the amount of content. I bought it really cheap from GameStop or Game X Change one day.

Attack of the Saiyans on the DS is a fun turn based RPG that starts at the end of DB and goes through the saiyan saga of DBZ

This is the best DBZ game ever made. Japanese only but it's not hard to navigate. You get extra points for making the fights go like they do in the story instead of just stomping the CPU as hard as possible.

Dude stop listening to people. This is a game where you go through all Z sagas, theres an overworld you fly in or super run through. Its like the GBA games but in 3d. Cha la head cha la is in it too, really a great experience for dbz fans.

Kakarot's gameplay is awful especially if you play after playing Xenoverse 2

I don't know if there's a SNES version. I only know this game as a PlayStation game.

Any DB fan does themselves a disservice not playing Advanced Adventures. I've played pretty much every single DB game that isn't a card game or gacha and it's the one game I'll always come back to.

He's thinking of the Gokuden (IIRC that's the title) games, the game you're referring to is known as DBZ Legends in the West. Awesome recommendation though, it's pretty much the proto Tenkaichi and IIRC one of the first games that went through the entire DBZ sagas.

Legacy of Goku 2 and Buu's Fury are legitimately good action RPGs with a lot of content and banger tunes

Love Supersonic Warriors as well - has a personally tailored story for pretty much *every* character and they're all SO badass. Never played the second one

Advanced Adventure has already been mentioned, but I'd also recommend Dragon Ball Origins 1 and 2 on DS. Both games cover the original DB story but the gameplay is different from AA. I also think that the games look fantastic for DS titles. I'd also recommend Dragon Ball Fusions on 3DS, that's a neat game with a fusion mechanic that can get pretty wild.

Tried getting into those, but could not get over having to use the stylus to move Goku. That's a big no-no in an action game for me.

Coolest thing about it is that it's a sidescroller beat-em-up until you get to the 1v1 story fights where it becomes a regular fighting game with different mechanics. Once you complete it, you get the option to go through the game again with DB Krillin who has his own abilities like Solar Flare.
And when you're done with that and have collected every collectable in the game, you can go through it again playing as literally every single character and enemy in the game.

FighterZ is the only legitimate good Dragon Ball game imo, shame that it's just a bajillion different versions of Goku's and Vegeta but at least they all play differently. Kakarot only has fanservice going for it, it plays like ass, even worst than Xenoverse 2.

I just now after storymode just got G and V blue hair. There are so many characters but most are locked and idk what to do past story mode.

Xenoverse 2 is still awesome. Still getting updates to this day as its retained a million players (which is insane considering it came out ages ago) and its getting a ps5 version next year.

With mods its even better. Its just so fun making your own characters, customizing them with transformations and skillsets, with their own clothing ect.

Here's a non-popular one: Super DBZ for PS2. It was the most "legit" fighter before FighterZ with ex-Street Fighter dev(s) behind the scenes for it. It's clunky in a Budokai kind of way if you're comparing it to FighterZ (the special moves look unimpressive even compared to Budokai though - it's a fighter first and a fan-service DBZ game second) but the characters play differently and it's really fun. Also has the best menu of any DBZ game I've played that emulates manga panels.

and a fan-service DBZ game second

And yet somehow the only game that provides fan-service I actually wanted for a long time like having Gohan in that dumb Kai costume wielding the Z sword or Chi-Chi being an actual playable character wielding the Banjo Fan. Or just doing stuff like putting a massive shoulder mounted blaster on Mecha Frieza.
That game was awesome and didn't get the love it deserves, but DB youtubers have been shining a spotlight on it these past few years.

i enjoyed kakarot but definitely wouldn't call it peak DBZ games(which really isn't a high bar).

attack of the saiyans on 3ds is probably the best dbz game

if you're open to a snes japanese one(has an english translation. probably a good one now but when i first played it like 15+ years ago it was like 70%. enough to beat the game tho). but the english name is legend of the super saiyan. rpg with cards to use as your attacks and defense. goes from the frieza and saiyan saga. you get different people to join your team. saiyans actually get zenkai boosts if you heal at low health.

In no particular order:

Budokai Tenkaichi 3
Budokai 3
Advanced Adventure
Legendary Super Warriors
Legacy of Goku II
Buu's Fury

Those were the most fun in my opinion. Never got around to playing Infinite World but I think a lot of people liked that one too. Supersonic Warriors, Raging Blast, and Transformations were fine as well.

Stay the hell away from Taiketsu and Sagas.
