Mine were all impacted

I think it's the only time I've cried from physical pain since turning 18 (was 20 when I had em out) - as the drugs from surgery wore off they ached like hell

Weren't bad the next few days but I think I was taking a lot of ibuprofen

The surgery passed in a blink but I was conscious of them breaking apart one tooth even tho I couldn't feel pain, it was still odd

I brought some music to listen to since I think the surgery took almost an hour

My wisdom teeth were impacted... so they had to slice my wisdom teeth into pieces and extract them from each socket that way.

They also packed my sockets with tons of bone wax. So I had bits of bone wax coming out of my gums for weeks after the surgery... even after the gums had healed.

Oddly enough, though... once the painkillers wore off, I didn't feel much pain. Just a severe ache. The ibuprofen was all I needed to deal with it.

Your experience may vary but mine was great. Got gassed, woke up loopy as hell, no pain. Spent a week in bed playing my DS and got to eat ice cream and Mac n cheese for every meal >_>
When I got mine out da only recovery I did was avoiding solid food for a day, and not exercising da next day.

Yeah, I know a lot of people who had next to no downtime for recovery. Just let the anesthetic wear off and literally at work the next day.

I was physically devastated personally, and needed ~ 3 days before I could return and had something go wrong with the stitches on the 5th day. It really just depends on how badly the teeth are impacted, IMO.

Yeah the surgery itself is fine, but I urge you to DEMAND to get put under. Fuck local.

As has been said, the recovery sucks. Mouth is sore, watch out for dry sockets, and no solid foods. First night generally is the worst, but they should give you good pain meds for the short term. It's less about pain management and more about mess management. You'll probably have gauze or whatever in your mouth for like 12-24 hours straight to absorb the blood, but you'll still be leaking blood and saliva.

It's really not bad. I had all four done at once. IV was the worst part. They put it in, I was like, "so am I supposed to count backwards from 10 or something?" - literally one second later, I'm awake in the recovery room.

I had all four removed when I was 18.

They brought me in, gased me, and I don't remember anything about the surgery.

I accused my parents of kidnapped ke after the surgery, they got me home, and I slept 16 hours.

Following, ate pudding and used salt water wash several times a day to keep the winds clean. I had zero issues in recovery.

Gas me up, saw the teeth in half or whatever, pull the pieces out. I was semi lucid and awake during the whole thing. Incredibly bizarre experience. I couldn't feel anything at all, but I got really loopy. They ended up having to tie me down in the chair because I got the bright idea to shove my hand in my mouth and "help"

After that I was okay for a couple days, then I popped my sockets and went to the doctor to ask for more drugs and they shooed me away saying that if I'd actually popped my sockets I'd be in too much pain to even get that far. Sometimes having absurdly high pain tolerance fucking sucks.

Your dentist should have restrained you in the chair for 24 hours.

Just got my last two taken out. It was $400 and I got the anesthesia. Super smooth process where I was completely out and the next thing I knew I was waking up in the waiting room. The next 3-4 days was all about rinsing with salt water and taking antibiotics 3X a day. Couldnt really chew much till day 3, but the pain was pretty minimum because of the ibuprofen. I felt mostly recovered by day 5. Im on day 5 now and theres no pain and I can touch the areas with my tongue and can feel its pretty much healed up and within a week it should be completely sealed.

Maybe! I was supposed to be monitored for 48h or whatever but my chaperone just gave me a bunch of microwave soups and left. I probably popped my sockets while still delirous from drugs and didn't feel it until I ran out of pain meds.

they numbed my mouth, put a towel over my eyes, and then took out the teeth. my mom was scared of me dying from sedation so they had to do it this way but tbh i wanted to re-experience what it's like to go under. ive experienced it only once as a kid and i was like hallucinating seeing coco from crash bandicoot floating in the room. crazy

i've had a bunch of teeth pulled without sedation. even an impacted tooth at the roof of my mouth. it's honestly not that painful. i do get a high adrenaline rush tho during it so that probably helps + the numbing stuff the dentist use

I've had 3 out, the 4th just never came in.

1 was pulled straight out but it was a struggle. A lot of yanking and pulling. The recovery sucked, they gave me bad advice on mixing prescription Lortab and Extra strength Tylenol and I wasn't smart enough to ask questions. I ended sitting in the bathroom at 3 am trying to throw up something in my stomach that wasn't there because I had vomited so much. I actually questioned if I wanted to live for a bit while that was happening.

The 2nd the Dentist just straight up broke it into pieces and pulled them out. He was done in about 5 minutes it seemed. It sucked hearing my tooth being broken to pieces inside my head, but it was the most pain free and easiest recovery of any of them. I think I had to use Advil once or twice.

The 3rd one was really messed up, the root had grown a J shaped curve and hooked around a nerve so I had to go to a specialist oral surgeon have it removed because if they f'd it up it could have paralyzed part of my lip. The recovery was fairly straight forward. A bit sore for a few days but, I got through it.

None of them were full sedation, all local anesthetics.

Had to get the bottom ones out as they were half-impacted. The top ones still give me no trouble.

Had local anaesthetic to save on the cost, so I was awake for the process, and dentist had to split them to get them out. The buzzing of the extraction tools ringing through my skull was unnerving, but overall it was not as big a deal as I expected it to be.

There was a little bit of aching during recovery, and the mouth being coated with dried blood after day one was unpleasant, but the worst part was weeks of soft food only. Seemed easy at first, but by the end I was desperate for food that had crunch.

In the years before the extraction, I was getting excruciating nerve pains in my face whenever I got sick (gum infections), so I do NOT regret having them out.

All 4 out at once. Put under. No memories. Woke up on a cot.

Next week wasn't so bad. Gauze etc. Jaw aching but not the worst. Just restricted my food and now I barely recall anything about it.
