In the new game? That makes sense. He was 23 in the first one. Same age as me at the time, but now I guess I got him beat...

I thought he was always perpetually a teenager because the writers don't know what to do with him if he's older. At least that's what I've always heard.

In the comics, he has been an adult since the late 60s I think. He was 15 when the series started. But they let him get into his 20s relatively early, and then stopped his aging there

Comic Peter's age is weird. Like he became Spider-Man at 15 and basically aged near real time for a little bit until he hit college. Then Marvel started sliding timeline and things got wonky. I try to use Franklin Richards as a barometer for how much time as passed as Sue's pregnancy is really where the timeline starts to slide but even that is tricky as Franklin is a Omega-level reality manipulator who regularly goes on adventures into places where space time works differently so his age itself can be variable even in respect to the sliding timeline.

But basically comic Peter has been Spider-Man for like 15 years or so putting him in his 30s.

In the regular comics, he grew up and got married. Probably stuck in his 20s though due to the sliding timeline.

Unless they try to make him more like Spider-Verse Peter.

Marvel doesnt let him age. So they either do the sliding timeline or they reset his timeline so he isnt too old.

He's perpetually 28.

Yeah, it was sobering feeling when you become older than the comic characters you followed as a kid.

Imagine how you'll fell when you pass Batman and Superman's ages! (35ish)

Homer and Marge are still 70s kids to me. I haven't watched Simpsons regularly since 2003 so they're still a 90s family to me! Always!

Didnt Franklin recreate every hero with a more modern backstory at least once, which can throw off things even more?

That wasn't recent. That happened back in the 2000s. And it was in the Ultimate Universe. Which wasn't the main one. He was back to being a teen there. It was a 2000s era retelling of all marvel history. But in the main universe, he stopped being a teen before the end of the 60s

It is a little funny we have ~60 years of Spider-man comicbook stories where he's not in highschool, but Spider-man adaptations so often prefer him to be a teenager.

I feel like Peter was best at like 35-ish when he was just a high school science teacher, married, had a kid. Yeah Im mixing up M2 universe with slots run but it seemed like natural progression. Its not a big job, but hes okay financially. Hes got a life that isnt pure misery.

the more they try to make Peter relevant to teens the less relevant to teens he becomes.

Yet he has to keep acting like he's 18-21 and can never have a family or meaningful development.

It sucks

Somewhat unrelated but there was DC comic called Generations which started in 1939 when Superman debuted and followed in real time until 1999 when it was released.

Marvel has done something similar. Spider-Man Life Story and Fantastic Four Life Story, both go from the 60s to the 2010s. And have the characters age.
