Literally had the same level of low budget gritty violence as The Warriors which was also from the same director, plus a pole dance sequence with exposed boobs. Amazing how all that slipped under the radar. I miss old movie ratings tbh, Temple of Doom was the first nail in the coffin and I guess the first kids movie to be rated PG was the last

The film was released the same day PG-13 came out and it was R rated before they cut it to PG.

Ratings aside I really like this movie but growing up I absolutely was infatuated with Diane Lane after Six Pack, Rumble Fish, and then this.
Back at this time I also thought Michael Pare was going to go on to be a huge star. After Eddie and the Cruisers and then this I really thought he was on his way and though he has had a long and active career he pretty always stayed a B actor. Because no one's dying in that scene, he's just shooting their motorcycles. In The Warriors you literally watch them beat a dude to death and more.

Did they ever say fuck in Streets of Fire? I don't think the language was as harsh as in The Warriors.
