There has to be a workaround for this crap. I'm looking for a specific file on my computer that I know exists, but searching does absolutely nothing. It seems Windows 11 only finds installed programs when you use its search function.

Seriously, this drives me nuts. What is the trick here?

Its pretty hard to find programs in Windows 10 too unless you know where they are. Did they make it worse?

I figured out how to find the file I was looking for, but it wasn't through Windows' search feature. Even Windows XP had a better search function.

Windows file explorer search sucks but powershell is a bit better

windows in general is pretty bad about this

for all the resources it splurges in the background, you'd think some of it would be dedicated to filesystem indexing
