After playing the demo, the first is a must play for me. I have such fond memories of that game. I can say the same about Mario RPG. Great month indeed.

The Star Ocean demo was great. I'm going to buy that I think. I buy 4 full price games a year. So far I'm at 3 of 4. It was going to be the Sukioden remasters. Since that got delayed it will be just SMBW or SO2R

Dragon Quest Monsters 3/Dark prince comes out in about a month, December 1.

I watched my friend play the demo of Star Ocean R and I am intrigued. Plus in a gacha game I played, I pulled the two characters from Star Ocean R!

I hope Eiyuden delivers

I haven't tried the demo of Star Ocean: 2nd Story R but I'll probably get it. It was one of my favorite rpgs of the Playstation era.

Theres a good chance that the current generation of gamers aged 20-30 never got the chance to play SO2R. Thats why now is a good time to bring back some 6th gen games. There will always be players who are younger than when the game came out. It's not like you can go right now and buy it online cheaply and play it. Better off getting the remake

The only new product here is a terrible Tales expansion.

Oh, i thought "eating good" was meant literally.
Like they don't have to buy any games because it's all sucks, and they can spend theur money for good food.

Is Arise just some DLC?

That game was the epitome of mid.

Anyone know anything about Demon School? It's a tactical indie rpg that has a 2023 date but Halloween is closing in close so maybe it'll be an next year game too. They have a Discord I should just join but I haven't *shrugs*

im just kinda kickin back and playing random non-new-JRPG stuff until January when Infinite Wealth hits. need to get back to star ocean 6.

Games released on a modern system's eshop are the opposite of being hard to obtain. You not buying digital games doesn't change that. And Star Ocean 2 isn't particularly legendary at all. It's just viewed as pretty solid for the time.

mario rpg is pretty worthless for me since it barely changes any of the gameplay and it's a very short game and not really worth buying again

i'm hesitant on star ocean 2 because 1, 3, and 4 were varying degrees of bad. but people universally refer to 2 as the one good game in the series

Arise was awful. Definitely won't be picking up dlc for it, or the mario remake. Will probably play Star Ocean, though. It looks fanta.

The Broken Roads looks interesting - kinda Fallout 1 or 2 set in Straya

I feel like Star Ocean 2 probably won't change anyone's opinion on the series by now and this isn't even bringing up 3. Super Mario RPG was hella gun but I don't have a Switch and well ymmv there.

I'm the only mf'er who tried to bring up an indie (s)rpg. Also it's not like that game is some complete unknown it was mentioned in print magazine. I really should join that Discord. It's called Demon School btw boo!

People heard the first time. It's just that it looks like a pretty bog standard affair so no one really is going to be all that crazed over it. Compare that to, say, Dread Delusion, which is pretty much the opposite side of the spectrum and gives pretty severe Morrowind vibes.

I actually have heard of Dread Delusion too. Lol so good work putting myself in my place I guess heh.

Also that Yakuka rpg comes out again next year heh.

None of those appeal to me.

Looked up the Star Ocean one to see if it's the one I thought... yeah not a fan of that Paper Mario style 2d pixelated Sprites in lush environments look that Octopath Traveler made into the standard now. The two art styles REALLY clash here more than some of the other recent games in this style.

Also, I played Super Mario RPG when it was new and I was a kid.

I liked it, but beyond the CG rendered and captured sprites, I didn't think it was anything special. I also just never cared about world building and stories with Mario and crew, they are too whimsical and cartoony - great avatars for a colorful platformer with wacky and inventive levels, but I never understood why you would put them in an RPG.

Super Mario RPG was really fun. I liked playing as Bowser.

This. I'd even argue it teeters on from mid to just being straight up bad. I remember a few years ago people hyping it up like it's some huge mainstream breakthrough for Tales Of, and then I played it and I couldn't be more disappointed with it coming off of Berseria.

Which sucks because IMO it started really strong. Story premise was cool, combat was fun... but after like the third "town" or whatever, it just completely cratered. And the ending... holy shit. I was literally skipping cutscenes through the last 75% of the game because they were just regurgitating the same shit over and over and over.

Absolutely miserable experience after the first ~10 hours or so.

I never tried tried Tales of Arise pretty much why from Matzo. Tales of Berseria is my favorite and even Tales of Vesperia. I thought I would get super into on the PS4 I dropped after awhile. Tales of Berseria needed DLC! I want more Magilou! XD

I have Tales of Arise:Beyond the Dawn preordered as well as Persona 5 Tactica. I plan to get Mario RPG as well at some point, but I'm waiting for a bit to see how easy Nintendo made the remake considering the original was already pretty easy.

Star Ocean is going to be fantastic. Super Mario RPG will be fun, too. Personally, I'm also getting the FFVII/VIII combo pack for Switch so the next couple of months are definitely going to be "retro" for me while waiting for Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

Just 4 is bad. 3 is the best one right up to the twist. While it doesnt ruin the game. It ruins the lore for the series. Why play 4 when you know the twist. It ruins the lore on the Sages too. I kinda wish they would change the music composer though. It all kinda sounds the same
